Vinted - dishonest buyer issue

I’m hoping someone might be able to advise as Vinted Help doesn’t seem to have the answers!
I have been selling on Vinted a couple of years now and have about 250 five star reviews. Everything I sell is in great condition and I take good care with checking the item before taking photos and listing.

So, I was a bit surprised today to have a sale suspended and a buyer suggested the item I’d sent was damaged and had been shrunken in the wash! I know full well it hadn’t been washed as it was something I’d bought but never worn and now it wouldn’t fit me anyway, and it’s definitely never been near a washing machine 🤣

I think the buyer has either decided they don’t like the item or it doesn’t fit, or maybe they’ve washed the item themselves?! Who knows! All I know is I sent them something in perfect condition.

The item (a dress) had sold for just £5 so to save hassle, I just refunded the buyer. But I’m worried they can now leave me negative feedback. Can I also leave feedback for them in this situation where the sale has been refunded? I know I can follow up to any feedback they might leave me, so I suppose that’s one way of warning other sellers to beware of this person.

I guess I’m lucky this is the first time I’ve come across a dishonest buyer!

Any advice gratefully received 😊 Maybe I’m worrying over nothing but I loved my great feedback score!

So irritating. I had one like this who made up some complete flannel.

Clearly angling refund but I just told her to either open a case or whatever it’s called with Vinted or send me pictures as evidence. She did neither and nor did she review me - just left it to auto review. I gave her a drubbing though (particularly when my internet sleuthing found out she was a loony antivaxxer who has also been in the gutter press for being on the make in another situation.

Your experience sounds annoying too @Testerical ….

It’s such a pain isn’t it? I just don’t get why people bother trying to take advantage like this 😠 Like who has the time to do this kind of thing?

Anyway, I hope they enjoy wearing the dress knowing they didn’t pay for it 🙄

Ive been so lucky so far with Vinted - lots of lovely buyers and sellers on there. So, I’ll keep selling and buying on there and chalk this down to experience 🤣 as like in all other walks of life, most people are decent, lovely folk.

I dont sell on Vinted - prices are too low. I sell on Ebay.com (the USA site) and several other platforms. I can tell you that the odd negative feedback means nothing and does not deter genuine buyers. Some dishonest buyers will target sellers with perfect feedback because they just want a refund and keep the item as well. On Ebay you cant give bad feedback but you can do a follow up and I always do to warn other sellers. Just reply in a calm and professional manner to the bad review. Somthing like "Item was accurately described and in perfect condition. No evidence of a fault was produced."
