What’s the itchiest thing ever?

I have a tiny speck of impetigo about 2mm across at most and it is so itchy I want to claw my arm off🤣 it’s covered in Fucidin and temporarily a plaster so I don’t scratch my skin off.

The itchiness level is out of all proportion to its size!

Whats the itchiest thing? I don’t remember how itchy chicken pox was, I’ve had a lot of mosquito bites and impetigo beats them hands down.

Allergic reaction to Diclofenac - I genuinely wanted to pull my skin off. Either that or eczema in the ear canal because you cannot (shouldn't) touch it.

Surroundedbyfools · 31/08/2025 12:59

Thrush

Iwontlethtesungodownonme · 31/08/2025 13:00

I had urticaria on the soles of my feet.

Shingles
christ it’s awful

ShowOfHands · 31/08/2025 13:02

I get weather and exercise induced urticaria which is itchy but gets worse if you scratch. It's unbearable. Not as bad as morphine however. I wanted to claw off my own face and they had to give me something to counteract it.

Anewuser · 31/08/2025 13:02

Chilblains. I had them when I was 19. They were so itchy, I wanted to go and stand barefoot in the snow - yeah, that would have helped, having cold feet was what started it.

LoisRoad · 31/08/2025 13:03

Not the itchiest thing ever but I had a bit of an itchy, irritating, tickly thing on face all day yesterday. When I got home and looked in a decent mirror- it turned out to be a spindly black hair growing out of my cheek. So that was nice.

VanilleFraise · 31/08/2025 13:05

Untreated scabies. My son had this last year and by the time he came home from uni and mentioned this odd looking rash - it was everywhere. Insanely itchy. And nothing the doctors give you to relieve the itch works.

BadAmbassador · 31/08/2025 13:05

Oh god I forgot about thrush 😬
Yeah that’s got to be up there! @Surroundedbyfools

I have psoriasis. That on my ankles. Before I found the right treatment (Methotrexate) I would sometimes wake up with bleeding legs from scratching in my sleep.

ChelseaDetective · 31/08/2025 13:06

Menopause. It was so itchy it felt like a chemical burn from my earlobes to my shoulders. I don’t know how common it is but I just found out its called Pruritus. Cold compresses were the only thing that helped.

Luckily it was only for a few weeks on and off.

BadAmbassador · 31/08/2025 13:06

@LoisRoad I feel you, I really do

Codiene. That stuff makes you scratch until you bleed😬 also high histamine levels, I've had so many scars from scratches from that

BadAmbassador · 31/08/2025 13:07

@ChelseaDetective wow that’s awful, I’d never heard of that. Menopause really is the gift that keeps on giving 😣

Full body urticaria - scratch one thing and you can map the reaction across my body as it spreads. Only 540mg of fexafenadine daily keeps it at bay. Even then some times don't catch it in time / too late with a dose. I would say I have some self control but I don't. Even when it's under control people often come up to me and ask why I have welts across my chest after I have rubbed or touched absentmindedly.

So many horribly itchy things, I feel humbled and that I’m getting off lightly here.

Quite literally

Internal piles. Itchy, painful and bloody.

lifeontheroundabout · 31/08/2025 13:15

For me it was a bad reaction to a wasp sting on my outer thigh.
It itched for maybe a week, then it went away, the swelling went down.

Then out of the blue weeks later, and then months later for a year, it would suddenly get itchy and I would scratch until the area was raised ,red, warm to the touch, and sore!

Non health related itchy things include effing nylon clothing labels at the back of the neck, and almost every wool scarf or jumper I've ever had the misfortune to buy!

FurForksSake · 31/08/2025 13:16

Tramadol / opioids. Whole body itching and nothing really helps.

when someone mentions nits or fleas and suddenly you just itch all over.

I’ve had chicken pox five times; that wasn’t fun.

Thrush is definitely 'up there', which is part of the problem! An itch you can't reach to scratch is the worst thing!
