Advice on removing pen marks and eyelash dye from sofa

Can anyone advise please?

Two different marks on my sofa. One is pen ink and the other is dye from when I died my eyelashes (yes, I was stupid). I don’t want to put the covers in the wash until I’ve tried a really good solution so any help is appreciated.

For pen ink, spray with hairspray and blot with cotton wool, repeat until it’s gone (obvs try a hidden area first!). This has got biro and marker pen out of a school blazer on more than one occasion.
Don’t know about the dye though, sorry!

Thank you! I don’t know how to try it in a hidden place though as the damned marks are smack bang centre of the cushion. It’s a fairly new sofa too, grr.

Alcohol hand gel can often get pen out, not sure about dye

When I was a hairdresser we used hairspray on fresh colour stains but idk if it’ll work if the dye has been there a while.

Thank you. I’m not sure what eyelash dye is made from tbh, will have to investigate. It looks like felt tip marks, although I’m sure it’s a more complicated combination.

I meant more to check the colour-fastness of your sofa, although I’ve never had any issue with colour coming out of the clothing I’ve used the hairspray on. I didn’t want to recommend it and it take the ink out of the cover, but also leave you with a big light patch where it has lifted the colour out of the sofa too!

Ah right, sorry! I misunderstood. Will do that test then.

I use hand sanitiser to rub off hair dye stains on my forehead. It’s got to be worth a try.
