How secure is a housing association tenancy?

So I live in a Housing Association house not a council house. What are the chances of a Housing Association deciding to sell off the house to private buyers or another company or what if they were to get bought over?
You hear about private landlords selling their houses and the tenants then having to move out.
Technically the Housing Association is a landlord, can they do this with the houses they have? My contract says I have a secure tenancy and can have the house for as long as I need it.

Housing association is paid for by the council? Its usually commissioned out?

Probably the safest kind of tenancy and landlord. Especially if you’re a secure tenant. You must have been there a long time to have been issued with a secure tenancy instead of an assured/AST so wouldn’t you know this already?

@YetanotherNC25 sorry, it's actually an Assured tenancy that I have, I've been here just over a year.

Have you tried Googling “Assured Tenancy”? The answer to your question pops right up.

if housing association sells they sell to other landlords and your tenancy continues, nothing changes for you.

anyone buying would be buying in full knowledge the street/block whatever is all
social housing

The HA or council can't just sell houses that are occupied in order to make a profit. Not easily anyway.

I did wonder! Secure tenancies are the best type but they can’t be issued any more.

I wouldn’t worry. In my experience HA’s will be far better than private landlords in terms of repairs and investment. They rarely sell off stock unless it’s not financially viable (very old/asbestos/not in demand). They can merge with another HA, but your tenancy transfers with you and little if anything changes.
Some are excellent and some are ok. You have the ombudsman to go to if any complaints are not dealt with effectively.
