I am nervous about covid. I am somewhat ok-ish this morning but I hate being sick. Exposed, anyone else

Is asymptomatic spread real?

I used to read about asymptomatic online but I never really believed it. I thought maybe people were pre asymptomatic. I know someone who wasn't well and he had sinusitis and it turned out to be covid. He doesn't usually experience sinusitis. He claimed he was asymptomatic. I know someone else who would minimise any symptoms and claim asymptomatic.

I had covid last year that made me very sick so I am anxious about getting it again.

Earlier this week I went into work to find two people with some vague symptoms. One of them was hoarse and had a very slight cough. Another had a very slight cough and some gi issues. More so tummy pain and inflammation more than nuesea, sickness or vomiting. They were both out last weekend at an event so I thought maybe there was a possibilty of covid. I was disappointed because they never considered covid and minimised their symptoms. If only they were forthcoming and told me that they weren't 100% and just forewarn me to bring some masks if I wanted to wear them. They never did that. They also made me feel bad before when I wore a mask last year.

So this brings me to today.

I feel well but my family are coming down with symptoms now. There are three people with symptoms. One has bad headache, another person has a sore throat and headache. Another person has a sore throat and tummy ache. Two of these people were mixing earlier in the week and used public transport. One of these people tested positive. The others didn't test. I wonder if their exposure came from this perhaps? What if I have covid and I am infectious but I don't have any symptoms? Or if their exposure came from public transport?

I am exposed again this morning. If it wasn't work, it's now my family.

I feel well. I don't have a sore throat. I don't have body aches or pains or fever. I don't even have any cold symptoms.

I had covid last year and needed antivirals. I missed the covid booster in the winter.

Are people here getting exposed to covid and coming away with no symptoms? I had the window open this morning and I know an open window helps with ventilation but then I closed it.

That is true of any illness. One person’s presentation may differ to the next, even if the virus is same. What you describe are non specific symptoms which could be something or nothing, most of which are mild and transient.

Any illness (yes, including flu) has levels.

My ds if he's ill, he is really ill - no underlying issues as far an any investigations showed. My dd1 tends to get things mildly.
I had a few times when they were little, her friends would be ill with something. She would show no signs whatsoever and then ds would go down badly with it - at a point when ds was at home full time so he wasn't picking it up elsewhere.

But you can't live your life worrying that you are infectious but not ill. No one would expect you to be checking; the exception being if you were visiting someone very vulnerable, then I think it would be sensible to avoid or at least test.

I've just had covid. This time it felt like a heavy cold, although I also came out with large spots which is an uncommon symptom. I wouldn't have tested with just the spots, and assumed I was being bitten. It was only when I started feeling really exhausted that I wondered if it was covid and tested. I haven't, to my knowledge been in contact with it in the incubation period. Obviously I had,

This. when DH and I had covid recently. He was very ill had to take time off work as too ill to go. I felt I had a very slight cold. What are you nervous about. Why did you have to have antivirals

DH just had covid for the 3rd time, I kissed him but did not get it this time, I got it the 1st time he got it

Loads of people ATM have stuffy noses, runny noses, sneezing, headaches, sore throats, horse voice, temperatures. The whole office has had one or more symptoms, as a family we have had one or more symptom. Only one person had nothing, and only one person had a temp and needed to take to their bed.

It could be COVID, a summer cold, summer flu, or just hayfever. No-one knows, because noone is testing.

You can be symptomatic and pass it on (same for e.g. flu, norovirus). Why don’t you just take a test?

Frankieohfrankie · 30/08/2025 16:06

Obviously there are things you can do to reduce your chances of catching it - wear a respirator, open windows and so on.
