6th birthday party outside in October

We're planning a garden party for our daughter's 6th birthday and thought it would be nice to do it at our house. We've got a big garden with a play park. I'm looking at getting a bouncy castle/slide, I've got a face painter/glitter tattoo lady coming, maybe a game of pass the parcel.
We've got a couple of very large gazebos if it rains and a big kitchen/dining room but obviously would prefer to keep it all outside with kids running around.

Obviously it's October, so weather could go either way really. I don't really want to invite more than 10 kids so thinking cousins and close friends.

  1. Are we mad?
  2. Will we need any more entertainment? Thinking maybe space hoppers and a football goal with those target holes.

I think you need more of a plan for how you will keep the children entertained if the weather is really foul and everyone naturally gravitates inside.

Will the bouncy castle fit inside the gazebo and therefore still be useable if it's pouring with rain?

You're not mad 😀, but have some alternative indoor plan in case it is a bad weather day.

I'll be getting a covered bouncy castle.

I've no idea. As I say there'll be gazebos. My house isn't exactly a school hall as there's furniture everywhere so it'll be a bit of a struggle getting everyone sat in a circle.

No I wouldn’t plan outdoor activities. My youngest has an early March birthday and I have never planned things to do outside or bought anything for outside. This year the weather was nice so they did play in the garden but that was unusual.

We had a bell tent party for my daughter's birthday in October. I remember some of the girls coming in summer dresses! I think you'll be fine as long as you have a plan b - maybe only invite as many as you could host inside.

Inside I could push everything back to make a bigger space which would work for pass the parcel at least. There's also a TV in the same area.
Food will be served inside as well so a good excuse to come inside if it pours down.
My daughter has a small playroom just next to that space a few kids can cram into
I've also got the make up artist in a room just off the kitchen.

So it wouldn't be completely shit if the rain pours, but a bit cramped.

Being honest I'm tempted to book the village hall as back up and look at the forecast closer to the time.

I would honestly book a venue for an October birthday. I would worry that it could be rather chilly to be in gazebos unless they were heated.

Start or end of October? It always seems cold by October half term so I definitely wouldn't if it's the latter!
