If you’re driving a lorry be wary of following your satnav in the area.

DisplayPurposesOnly · 28/08/2025 20:35

Don't park your lorry under the alien spaceship

Messycoo · 28/08/2025 20:37

Warning for lorry drivers not to use sat nav down narrow road .

HarryVanderspeigle · 28/08/2025 20:50

Risk of alien abduction, keep away.

Tillow4ever · 28/08/2025 21:25

Musk’s satellite network in the area - will destroy all lorries that enter the area.

Then why isn't the satellite crossed out?

Large radio telescope or some satellite communication equipment, no lorries. (because heavy lorries will vibrate the ground and disturb the image)

Wild stab in the dark.

If you’re driving a lorry be wary of following your satnav in the area.

Then why isn't the satellite crossed out?

Because it’s the lorry which has to not drive down the road.

I remember there being a bit of a fuss about this road sign years ago

If you’re driving a lorry be wary of following your satnav in the area.

Then why isn't the satellite crossed out?

Because the lorry size is the problem rather than the satellite, perhaps?

Why don't they just say "no lorries"?

Monty27 · 29/08/2025 01:35

No lorries due to low flying drones

WhatATimeToBeAlive · 29/08/2025 01:31

Why don't they just say "no lorries"?

Because they vary in weight and size, so it can’t be that tight of a route or it would display maximum weight and height/width instead.

Bjorkdidit · 29/08/2025 06:10

Ah, that makes sense but perhaps it also needs a 'do not use sat nav' explanation.

I've not seen the official sign or been there recently but I know if you go to the Slaithwaite area from the M62 following a sat nav, it takes you down a very narrow twisty steep road and last time I went there, I saw several yellow council signs and some posted by locals telling lorries not to go any further because it's not passable but some still get stuck.
