Symprove - anyone take it?

Just got my delivery today and will be starting it tomorrow.

It's super expensive, I got the 3 months for £25 each offer but can't imagine I'll carry on for £50 a month when it ends unless it is literal magic!

I have IBS and also I'm on mounjaro so get constipation badly now. Here's hoping it helps.

Anyone else on it?

Yes I’ve been taking it for a couple of years now and I think it really makes a big difference to my health.

HollyhockDays · 27/08/2025 15:54

What difference does it make? Is it for digestion issues? I need something for energy.

Notsurewheretostarthere · 27/08/2025 16:21

I took it for 3 months and it made no difference to me. My GP recommended it to me for reflux and after a year of multiple surgeries, laxatives, antibiotics, and NSAIDS.

I didn't have any bowel issues, so maybe if I had it would have made a difference.

Ive been off it a week and noticed no difference.

For me it’s made a huge improvement to my immune system.

@HundredMilesAnHour thats really interesting. I'm obviously the 1/10!

I was very open minded about it, I eat kefir and drink kombucha and make pickles with live ACV. But other than making me burp and more acidic before I even had a glass of water I didn't notice anything at all.

Certainly no more energy.

My osteopath has suggested Optibac instead. I listened to James Kinross on the Food Doctor and he was incredibly convincing that you can have too much of 'good probiotic bacteria' and throw the whole system out.

@HundredMilesAnHour how do you measure improvenent to your immune system?

HundredMilesAnHour · 27/08/2025 17:06

@Notsurewheretostarthere I thought there had been a definite improvement in my immunity (I’ve been badly affected by long Covid) and blood tests confirmed it.

Symprove was recommended to me by a friend who’s a qualified nutritionist. He told me that Symprove and VSL are the only pro/prebiotic supplements that UK GPs recommend. I choose Symprove as I didn’t fancy trying VSL because it’s a powder and that reminds me too much of being forced to try Beecham Powders as a child.

Notsurewheretostarthere · 27/08/2025 17:07

@HundredMilesAnHour thank you! Ha ha I avoid things because I hated them as a child too!

My DH has colitis and diverticulitis and has been taking Symprove daily for about 3 years now. We forgot to take it on holiday last year and after a couple of days he was struggling with pain and constipation and had a bad flare up when we returned. He does seem to make a bottle last 5 weeks by taking a slightly smaller amount each day, but yes it’s expensive, but he definitely feels it helps.

I was on it. Very expensive and I noticed no difference. I have IBS.

Lookabitfurther · 27/08/2025 17:32

It made me feel really sick. Didn’t agree with me at all. I have IBS maybe that’s why ?

Oh I hope this doesn't happen (emetophobic)

But pleased to hear those with positive reviews. I have nothing to lose at this point!
