what happens if it doesn't sell well?

I was just wondering something.

I go to a lot of shows and generally they sell out pretty fast (Ricky Gervais for example) I'm going to a show in September and I wouldn't say it's selling well at all (see pic) I know this might change nearer the time but I was just wondering if it carries on selling slowly like this what happens?

Is it likely to be cancelled? or venue change to a smaller venue?

I'm asking because the venue is about 300 plus miles away from me and I would need to book a hotel and wondering if there is much point if it's just going to get cancelled

There's a reasonable chance it will be a very short run and then cancelled, or not get off the ground at all. Can you not book a free cancellation room on booking.com just in case?

SummerFrog25 · 25/08/2025 19:57

Yeah, just book a 'free cancellation' room.

I would say that show would go ahead, they may move folks from 3rd tier and upgrade there tickets to other sections or start offering 2 for 1 tickets but I would book free hotel cancellations just in case.

What show is it?

It's got a really odd pattern to the sold seats. Maybe some are blocked out on purpose?

londongirl12 · 25/08/2025 20:39

It looks very weird how the sold seats are blocked together. What’s wrong with some of those middle rows? Agree with others, book a room that is refundable.

Is it a concert that is only at that venue a night or two, or is it a run of shows?

in my experience, for concerts they tend to give away free tickets the few days before to fill seats (I’ve been lucky enough to benefit from this a couple of times!) , for theatre, I’ve had it earlier this year that they cancelled one of the two nights and you could transfer your ticket to the night it did perform or get a refund.
