About to have a day a week to myself

My ds is starting school which means I now get a whole day to myself to do what I want with (I did ask for extra hours but they don’t have any). I am so happy to now be in this position but also wondering whether the novelty will wear off quick and I’ll find myself bored. What do you do on your day off? I’m happy to get cracking on with Netflix but don’t want to completely waste the day.

Make the most of it while you can! Things always change, you might get more hours, or something else might come up, so while it is free use it.
I had a day a week last year and it was wonderful. I could go to random shops I did not 'need' to go to, and generally loaf around, go for a walk etc.
My advice would be to get out of the house in the morning, cos it is sometimes easy to feel that you have 'wasted' your day.

Enjoy!

On my days off, I usually went and did a leisurely shop, looking at things I don’t normally have time for, came home, did a bit of housework, had lunch of my choosing and then sit and watch tv for a couple of hours. The time soon goes before school finishes. I never got bored, I would try and do something like clean a drawer out, but I did that as things like that need to be done whilst you are alone with no interruptions and you have to finish it. Make the most of it, coffee and lunch with friends, go to the gym or do a hobby.

It's only six hours, it goes by very fast!

I use it to run errands, do a fresh food shop (where I can choose nice quality veg etc) and declutter. I was slowly working my way through the Vinted pile before the summer holidays started. Obviously also bits of housework, gardening, day to day stuff. And I sometimes do a bit of work to catch up.

Also bear in mind inset days might be on Fridays, and you won't get the day in the holidays. I'll probably go back to full time next year, and it'll be a bugger finding childcare for that extra day in the holidays.

ETA - I have to say, I have never had time to watch TV on a Friday 😂 I usually have a long list on my phone of things I'd like to get done. And my friends are all at work.

DD is about to.go.into year 9 and the novelty hasn't worn off yet! I use the day for good shopping, cleaning (but not vacuuming because that's DH's job at the weekend), exercising and meeting friends for lunch/breakfast

Absolutely love it!
Also I can swap my.day off if there is an inset day or to fit with school holidays etc which was great when DD was too young t be home alone

Your DH will take up a hobby that takes him
away for hours and hours at some point - so go for it!

Gym, food shop, any other shopping and a big clean, and the thrill of a cup of tea alone in a clean house for 10 mins. Then the rest of the week and weekend is totally dedicated to leisure.

I would take a couple of days to loaf about in bed and home. Get some proper rest and relaxation. Then after that use it to catch up on tasks or leisurely shopping.
