Teenage boy backpack- must be small?!

Anyone else got a teenage boy obsessed with having a backpack that isn’t bulky?

Apoarently only cool to have a small rucksack now but needs to be big enough to fit an a4 book/folder. Any Nike or north face recommendations please?

@NeonLover the only problem with a small backpack is the amount of school stuff he's going to be carrying!? They aren't very strong and might burst the zips unless he has a larger bag....

1 a4 book? How is that going to work?

NeonLover · 25/08/2025 12:14

They keep most of their books at school so only need to bring home 1 or 2 books for homework. He’ll also have a bigger back up bag but wants a non bulky option for his birthday

my son - y10 has a source of pride that he goes to school two days a week with no Back Pack... just his pens in his blazer... I'm like........WTF.... u need more than a few pens.... highlighters, glue sticks, sissors.... stapler... water.

My mind boggles.. But in reply to the OP.. .I think it is a thing... small or no back pack.

My son has a small one from Decathlon, so not a big brand but it’s pretty small and can still just about fit an A4 pad, water bottle, snacks and a scrunched up jumper… it’s also £3.99 so not much of a loss if it doesn’t fit the bill!
