If you saw this website, how would you assume you would be notified of a decision?

You have already received a letter by post notifying you of the fine.

Definitely an email as they tell you to check your spam box.

Sorry, repeated post.

When they say "we will write to you" they mean they will write an email. But it sounds like only if your appeal is successful.

If your appeal is unsuccessful it sounds like they will send you a physical letter.

It’s a government website, therefore I would assume they have an incredibly shit system which alternates letters and emails based on what suits them with no consideration at all for the client. (Based on my recent experience of getting divorced where some things were emails and some were letters with absolutely zero logic or consistency.)

Option B - By email as it clearly reminds you to check your spam folder.

Seems like a leaning toward email.

I'm just annoyed as obviously I've now got a £50, not £25 fine, for not paying.

I complained, pointing out the inconsistency on the website and said happy to pay £25. They've just said no and that I was notified.

I still want to complain again as I am neurodivergent.

There are two headings under both of which the first line gives the impression it will be post - it says 'letter' and 'write to you' - both of which suggest post. So that was the context (as neurodivergenct brains learn through context) that I remembered.

Secondly if it is really the case that you know you are sending an email (why not lead with that then) you are effectively asking a neurodivergent person to remember to check their email junk box every 5 days for eight weeks. We have no chance.

I wish I'd fucking paid it, ironically it was lack of signage about the parking space, and my dyslexic friend (who is also very organised and probably would have read ir properly and remembered to check for an email) suggested I appeal it.

I'm going to complain to the council and say I think the website is not accessible.

I also do vaguely remember that I never got an email to acknowledge the appeal, and thinking that was OK as they'd be emailing about the outcome not that fact it was appealed. So didn't go looking for an acknowledgement email.

Then time passed and I remember thinking, it was a letter to say it was declined so as I hadn't had one then it was probably successful. In all honesty I thought they had written it off and had a shit admin centre that hadn't notified me (as never had an acknowledgment email).

Obviously it is a case of confirmation bias, I was looking for the answer I wanted, and tripped over my neurodivergence,
but I still think the website is useless.
