Good morning, all. What better way to begin the long weekend than a new game of the ineffable Mornington Crescent? All are welcome - veterans and newbies alike.

To set the tone, I will start with one of my favourite moves - a double shunt to

Kew Gardens

Indeed she does, TragicMuse, indeed she does.

Harold Wood

Bearing in mind recent moves I think the next move involves the very ancient Pearman Principle which was used by my late mother in the 1960's Thinking of my mother, she used to go frequently to Wood Green

LittleBitofBread · 15/07/2026 17:25

I am going to take a deep breath, play a Featherstonehaugh's Folly and say, MORNINGTON CRESCENT!

TragicMuse · 15/07/2026 18:05

Oh beautifully done @LittleBitofBread what a quality move!

LittleBitofBread · 15/07/2026 18:32

Thank you, Muse. It was the elegant combination of Wood Green and your own lateral that allowed it.

Right, new game!
Kilburn Park

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/07/2026 20:39

Oh brava, LittleBitofBread! A thrilling climax to the last game and intriguing start to the next.

Dagenham Heathway (anti-clockwise, obviously)

OP posts:
LlynTegid · 16/07/2026 18:40

Dagenham East

LittleBitofBread · 17/07/2026 18:34

Thank you both; very kind.
This is quite a conundrum so early in a game. We need to be careful of Passings.
I think if I say Alperton we're OK?

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 17/07/2026 19:10

Yes, that deftly avoids passings but I think it scuppers my intended double pass to Wembley Park until Tuesday at the earliest. So I’ll make do with a lateral reverse to

Theydon Bois

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 17/07/2026 19:20

Since you got us so neatly out of Passings @LittleBitofBread. I am emboldened to venture a flotsam to Warren St

Vaguelyclassical · 18/07/2026 13:58

. . . which means we must surely have a jetsam to Pimlico . . . . (by way of the Refraction Exception)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 18/07/2026 14:03

Hmm. Pimlico is always so interesting. It opens up so many possibilities yet closes down so many more. But I won’t be discouraged. A Harrington (1997 revision) to

Stockwell

OP posts:
TragicMuse · 19/07/2026 12:01

I’m so glad you said 1997 revision @ComeIntoTheGardenMaud it could have been a bit…sticky, if you’d gone with the 1953. Or the rebound ‘75, come to that. You do have it? I’m sure I recall you showing me your ‘75 at Leytonstone…or was it Leominster? Somewhere beginning with L anyway. One’s memory you know. Annus Domini etc.

Pimlico is always such a jolly affair. Hyde Park Corner.

outdooryone · 20/07/2026 12:24

Posted as I have just emerged from this very station, thereby Rule 4 applies.

Kensington High Street.

LittleBitofBread · 20/07/2026 12:40

Harrington is elegant but tricky to apply, I always think, in whichever iteration.
I'm going to avoid it completely and instead essay a Padman's (à la seconde, naturally) to Bank

EDITED typo, with many apologies

Vaguelyclassical · 21/07/2026 20:48

Oh my, the lesser known Padman protocol. That's awfully cunning. @LittleBitofBread You leave one with very few options, the least risky of which is probably Angel.

LittleBitofBread · 22/07/2026 14:49

Anything I know, I can only attribute to my MC summer camps back in the day. Intensive to the point of exhaustion sometimes, yes, but I have never forgotten anything I learned about the game there.

Or the pool boys.

Anyhow!
Seven Sisters (triangulated)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/07/2026 15:51

Ah yes. The summer camps. The summer pools. The camp boys. All of them made the summers unforgettable.

Liverpool Street

OP posts:
LittleBitofBread · 22/07/2026 17:09

A high Flavian to Whitechapel

outdooryone · 22/07/2026 22:58

Far out, that means I can slap down Theydon Bois

LlynTegid · 23/07/2026 06:51

Not quite as far out distance wise as Epping though, where I move.

I had a sheltered childhood as MC summer camps were never even discussed by friends or family.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 23/07/2026 09:47

Back to Theydon Bois so soon? I take it we’re playing by the Gottfried principle, then, in which case I can proceed to

Dalston Junction

OP posts:
LittleBitofBread · 23/07/2026 17:04

Gottfried makes my planned move inadvisable, but the silver lining is that I was forced to look up DuPont (2011), and discovered that from there I can take a Fabricated Twelfth to Sudbury Town

Vaguelyclassical · 23/07/2026 21:17

Going faintly rogue or at least strongly improvisatory (I have none of the canonical reference works to hand). A Diminished Seventh to Heathrow Terminals 3 and 4.

LlynTegid · 24/07/2026 07:07

I play the incorrect station name rule, so moving us back to Sudbury Town, and thence to Acton Town.
