Bright ideas for this unused space!

We have this unused space at the back of our garden, it was a car parking space, tucked between the vegetable patch and a trellis. Our current car doesn't fit through the gate, so I'm looking for ideas to brighten the space up...maybe with a seat area (seat placed in there for scale).

The wall is 6ft and is our neighbour's boundary, so I'd like to avoid painting or drilling into it.

We'd like to retain use of the gate, which is the green thing on the right.

The ground is awful 1970s concrete and I'll happily rip it out.

Any ideas welcome!

Does it get any sun? You could lift every other tile and plant a little orchard?

A friend once bought a house with every other tile lifted, imo it didn't work. If you can't lift the cement, give it a proper clean, likewise the brick wall. If that doesn't look better, see if you can cover the cement with a nice outdoor flloring. Some nice plants and furniture would make it a great space.

Or..a firepit and bar? With loads of pots of plants and herbs.

It gets some sun, it is south facing, but shaded by the wall, the gate, and some trees. I think we could definitely grow something there. In pots or in the ground...

I wonder what's under the cement... I meant, it's gotta be earth sooner or later.

Because the cement is in big blocks I think we'd struggle to remove it ourselves... but im sure there are labourers who do that type of thing.

Jet washing it in the short term is a good call @dudsville - I wonder if we could paint it, or if it'd just look horrible (it's got pebbles embeddedin it, so not smooth).

Maybe we could do smooth cement over the lumpy cement, and either tile or paint it...?

For the wall, I'd be worried about jet washing it as it's about 50 years old (and not ours)... what about putting something in front of it?

I think lots of plants is a must... in pots if removing the cement is too annoying.

Ooo we have a firepit...

Maybe some of those multistorey herb planters against the walls?

Greenhouse , find someone giving one away on marketplace

You can get planters with trellis attached to them. I’d get a couple of those to go against the wall, then you can grow something pretty without having to worry about holes in the wall or possible damage.
