I need new jeans. Im a 12/14, I'm mid 40s, 5foot6. No clue what to get?! Anyideas? Don't want skinny, noticed a lot of wide leg but will this be in fashion this season?

If you haven't decided on a style, try looking on a jeans site such as mother denim. None will be unfashionable.
Find the look you like, then either order that style from them or cheaper elsewhere or take that picture round the shops.
At least with one style in mind, you can try several for size.

Wear what is comfortable for you and looks good on you. Don't be someone who follows fashion regardless. Be an individual.

You can follow fashion, look good, and be an individual. Those things are not mutually exclusive.

I agree with wearing what you personally feel comfortable in, and what you personally feel you look good in.
I think the trend is more towards wider legs in jeans: quite a different fit and look to the skinny leg.
I'm 5'2 and I look short and dumpy in wider length trousers.
The skinny look tends to make me look taller and I'm perfectly comfortable in them.
Of course if the trend is more towards wider leg jeans you're going to find tops to be shorter than they were.
Skinny jeans required a longer lengthed top.

I think it depends on your body shape too. I’m only 2.5cms taller than you @Stefanosgirl but I have a proportionally shorter torso and find wide-legged trousers look a lot better on me, especially if the waistband sits just under the waist. Skinny trousers look awful on me and I’d never wear them even if they were the height of fashion.

I definitely think you should wear what you feel comfortable in, whether it’s a colour you particularly like, a nod to the latest fashion styles, or a tried and tested outfit.

I like the wide leg jeans, but have a few problems with them. The cropped ones look good, but the full length ones are really long so impossible for those of us who are short whereas the skinnies just fit everyone. They also tend to make people's bellies and bums look big. Of course they require short tops or the longer top needs to be tucked in so the old tops that went with the skinnies don't work any more. With wide leg and flares the trend was for high waist, which I can't do at all, but I've noticed a few more mid waist options available now.

Fine to be an individual, but following last year's fashion isn't really doing that!

I'm wondering if the best thing for me would be something like a relaxed straight, half way between a straight and a wide leg?

DD needed new wide leg jeans and got some fab ones from the Levi shop. Yes, they’re expensive but they’ll last ages. The staff in the shop were amazing, knowing what styles would suit and made a real fuss of her, she loved it and loves her new jeans

I recently got myself a pair of the relaxed straight jeans @Gwenhwyfar ,yeah, halfway between a really narrow and a wide legged jean.
At 5'2 I can wear those, so while I'll still wear the skinny jeans with a longer jacket or coat, I'm okay with wearing the straight, narrower legged jeans too.
For now, anyway!

Ooh I’ve just bought some American Eagle jeans (inspired by everyone getting in a very amusing tizz about Sydney Sweeney, the marketing worked, I’d never heard of them before now I’ve ordered a pair) - also a size 12 and bought some from the “mum” range. So, tight on the bum baggy on the legs. I’ve reluctantly hung up my old faithful skinny jeans and embraced the fashion of 2025 (teen DD has informed me skinny jeans are outdated and comfy jeans are in)

Where did you get your relaxed straight from?

No one is truly individual. It very very few. Some people follow fashion more than others but truth is we are all guided by it unless we live in isolation

Where did you get your relaxed straight from?

Amazon has quite a few different styles @Gwenhwyfar I typed relaxed straight jeans into the search bar, it was easier for me than going around the shops.

Ok thanks. I prefer to try things on first if possible.
