What to expect at a Sound Bath

I’m looking at new ways to relax and have heard about sound baths. I get nervous in new situations but would like to try something that helps me relax.

Please can anyone who has been to one share how to works and how they found it.

Thanks

Hey,

You basically go, lie down on a yoga mat or mattress and then just listen to the sounds with your eyes closed. The facilitator will play the sounds from a fixed spot in the room or they may walk around. Some people find it very relaxing, some people don’t enjoy it. Definitely worth a try!

I did one and loved it, though initially felt like a bit of a twat. The one I went to, we were asked to take a yoga mat and blanket. The lady started making sounds with the bowls and I couldn't figure out what to do with myself, I'm not great at just lying down doing nothing. Once I'd relaxed a bit, it was very soothing. I ended up falling asleep and the second it stopped, woke up, but I felt like I'd been listening throughout.

i absolutely love a sound bath. You lay on a yoga mat, sometimes with a foam block as a pillow, wear an eye mask and take a blanket and just relax. It’s a really lovely thing. I would wear layers (inc socks) as you can get a bit chilly depending on the venue. You can probably see some example videos on TikTok

I do one every week with crystal bowls and ocean drum. It includes guided breathing. It took me a few sessions to really get into it, but having that time just for yourself is such a treat. It's very relaxing and calming. As pp said, wear warm layers (yes to socks) and get comfy. I find that having learnt different breathing techniques, I can use them whenever I start to feel angsty and it has a calming effect.
