Where should I go in Glasgow?

I am visiting Glasgow next week for the first time arriving by train. I’ll have 3 to 4 hours there. Where do you advise me to visit? Not bothered about restaurants I’m sure we’ll find a café.

We really enjoyed the Riverside museum if you like old cars, trams, trains bikes etc. Also had a mock up of old street with shops you could go in.
Unless you love weird modern art, avoid the modern art museum.
The open top bus tour takes you round all the sites and areas of Glasgow in an hour - you could jump off at Riverside museum and get back on to finish the tour.

Kelvingrove museum is amazing imo. Great art.
Goma is also good for art.
Tantrum doughnuts is a nice cafe or if you do go to kelvingrove there are lots of nice places on byres Rd. One Portuguese custard tart place that I really hope is still open.

Walk around and see some of the city centre murals. If you search for Glasgow mural trail you'll find details.

If arriving in the city centre you could wander over to Buchanan Street and through exchange square to the Gallery of Modern Art which isn’t too far away and, depending on the timings, try to book a tour of the city chambers. Walk a wee bit further out and go to the Cathedral and Necropolis. If you like puzzle trails then there’s a treasure trail walking around that area which was fun to do ( about £10 online and do it on your phone).

If you wanted to go to the West End then go from central station along to St Enoch underground out to Kelvinhall. From there you can wander over to Kelvingrove museum or up towards the university ( there’s more treasure trails there too).

If you go to the transport museum then go to the Glen Lee ship too.
if you’ve got kids with you then the science museum is also good and you can get to it from the subway too. You could get a power boat trip on the river.

Thank you for taking time to reply. That gives me a starting point. It’s a strange feeling going somewhere completely new.

I'm Glaswegian and couldn't agree more with this!
Would also add the University of Glasgow, you can just walk up University Avenue and then go in main building up to the cloisters. Beautiful building, and gives me the heeby jeebies thinking about all those exams I did there!
And botanic gardens too!

You won't find friendlier people than Glaswegians :-)

The House for an Art Lover is beautiful, in Bellahouston Park
