My DD has an appointment tomorrow to have her braces fitted. She's 14. Can anyone let me know what to expect. Will it take long....I'm guessing an hour?? And will it hurt?

Yes it hurts. Not a massive amount but enough.

get her to take paracetamol before going.

also it takes a while to adjust to eating so soft easy to eat food for a few days.

She will feel quite sore & headachey afterwards. My kids did fine with a combination of paracetamol & ibuprofen. (Important to keep it up for a couple of days and stick to the timing recommended. Don’t wait for pain to cook up, just give them (with food) if she is due.) Lots of soft food for a few days. (Soup, jelly, ice cream)

The fitting doesn’t hurt! They just glue the metal bits onto the teeth and fit the train tracks. But yes, she’s likely to be uncomfortable for a few days and might struggle to chew. My DS had his fitted a couple of weeks ago, took slightly less than an hour.

Depends how complicated it is. Ds was done in about 25 minutes. Definitely take paracetamol beforehand. It's more like an unpleasant ache afterwards. Absolutely have very soft food available for about a week. She will know when it feels OK to have normal food again so be guided by her. Ds had a bit of a lisp for about a month but that went away and now he sounds just normal.

Paractamol might be advisory. Be prepared to buy brace ‘gum’ (peri brain can’t remember the name!), to sit on the gums where the brace might rub

The actual fitting doesn’t hurt. But it is achy afterwards due to the pressure. Might last for a couple of days and paracetamol will help.
