Hi, so i had surgery two weeks ago. Had a horrible time, have only just went to the toilet for the first time in 2 weeks, has alot of pain & had a kidney infection.

Starting to feel a bit better now but have lost over a stone in weight in the past 2 weeks and I look fuckin awful 😖 have dropped from 9 st 6 to 8 st 6. Never been this light in my life!!

I've no arse, can feel all my chest bones and my face is very gaunt.

Anyone have tips to put the weight back on ASAP? I'm still in a lot of pain to do any real exercise but looking for food options to help.

Tia x

Mass builder protein shake powder? I bought it by accident once and wasn't amused.

I’d be very happy to be 8st 6. I had four surgeries and was 7st 3 in January, now I’m 9st 2. I eat lots of protein and fruit and vegetables. I have porridge every morning. I don’t have the energy to exercise as much as I did before my illness but I’d be happier if I was half a stone lighter.

Look at what body builders eat for ideas - they tend to eat nutrient dense foods so you get hunger calories and protein but with less bulk……nuts, seeds, full fat dairy and butter, avocado, oily fish, eggs, add grated cheese to your salads and pasta dishes etc.

Don't hit anything too hard, you need to be healthy as well.

Look at making full fat versions of what you already eat - blue top milk, add cream to pasta sauces, Full fat snacks if you don't want big meals.

Have a look at protein shakes as well, lots of them are pretty good but build up shakes are higher in calories.

Also Google calories dense foods - it'll be things like nuts, seeds, oils, full fat dairy and so on.

Tbh I thought i would be happy but I look really awful. I got down from 13 st 8 in November to 9 St 3 - 6lbs but this last stone has really made a horrible difference in my appearance.

Thanks looking into the shakes to start with as I was on & off vomiting so just trying to keep anything plain as possible.

Did your surgery have anything to do with your digestive tract? Or is the vomiting from the infection or response to any meds?

I'm recovering from surgery too (although no complications!) and have lost a few pounds but I'm also avoiding spice because it'll affect my butt which is rather, erm, tender right now.

If you're thinking super plain foods make minor changes - add proper butter to toast and buy highly seeded stuff for the calories. Chop a banana on for vitamins. Or add jam, peanut butter, chocolate spread etc.

I'm eating a lot of apple sauce / puree but it's low cal really.

Full fat milk in your tea. Full fat yoghurts as snacks. Cheese on toast. Foccaccia bread is lush but fatty, have it with a tin of soup.

Aim for a pound or so a week in gain - no faster than a normal weightloss speed. That requires approx 3500 excess calories per pound of body fat.

Ensure is a build up shake - you use it in addition to normal diet. It's still only about 300 calories. Huel do a build up shake which is around 400 cal.

Thanks for this. I had sterilization surgery so the vomiting was more to do with the meds.

Thanks for these suggestions x
