So I’m aged 40, I have an underactive thyroid which has always had an effect on my hair. But now I feel it’s quite brittle.
I’m brunette and I don’t use dye, a few tiny greys coming through but nothing majorly noticeable as of yet.
I need a restoring/reparing shampoo, I’ve looked them up on the internet but would like some suggestions/opinions from mn hivemind if possible? So hit me with your opinions/experiences. My budget is up to 65 for both shampoo and conditioner. Thank you

There’s a podcast on Radio 4 called ‘sliced bread’ which has an episode on expensive shampoo and conditioners and whether they’re worth it. Very interesting (spoiler: probably not).
Anyway I like Redken Allsoft. Try looking at beauty site reviews. That one is a best seller for a reason. Also the Redken in the white bottle for brittle hair.

I've been using Nioxin and it's really changed my hair. It's not cheap but last for ages and I noticed a difference after 2 weeks. I got a set from boots which includes shampoo, conditioner and a serum. Fable and mane also do a really nice hair oil that I've been using.

@Yellowbirdcage thank you redken kept popping up yes! @Hayley1256 nioxin is one that has good reviews too, I was veering towards that or olaplex! Has anyone tried olaplex bond repair?

I've tried Olaplex but it didn't really suit my very thin hair. I do like their hair oil though

Olaplex is good. Adi do a dupe which is just as good for about 10% of the price

For years I suffered from dandruff, except that it turned out not to be dandruff but an allergy to something in commercial shampoos. So I started using allepo soap; which is the purest soap and used for washing hair throughout the middle east. Result healthy scalp and healthy hair. It contains only olive oil and laurel oil and ash. It comes in big bars which you use the same way as a shampoo bar - and of course you can use it as a body soap as well.

Windle Fortifying Shampoo and Conditioner has, over time, sorted out my hair. But it’s not cheap and it’s much more expensive to buy in small sizes.

Elvive Bond Repair - get the whole lot including the pre-shampoo treatment. Look for it on 'three for two' in the supermarket because it isn't cheap, but would be within your budget at full price. I use the whole lot on my hair about once a week and vary my other shampoos to avoid build up. John Frieda Blonde Repair is also quite good - I am not blonde but it's referring to damage repair from bleaching.
