Hi, I need help/advice/ reassurance anything!
ive been stressed the past coming up two weeks as ive been getting ongoing and debilitating pelvic pain. It’s been so bad & Ive been put on very strong painkillers- mefenamic acid & naproxen. Ive been in lots of pain & feeling out of it and dizzy (doctor said the painkillers can cause this) but now this has caused my anxiety to be out of control! Im very anxious all the time and scared im going to have a massive heart attack! I am 25 & panicking everyday. I have been checking my blood pressure. Normally it’s 120/80 thats my normal average but nowadays it’s like 139/80 or over like 140/86. It did go up to 154 too but that was after walking around upstairs.
my anxiety is through the roof- this sudden pelvic pain ongoing and it’s not disappearing. Being on strong painkillers all day everyday cant be good for me and im petrified im going to have a massive heart attack and die!
is a heart attack likely at 25? I am reasonably healthy except insulin resistance and type 2 due to my severe PCOS :( but I’m medicated daily with maximum metformin
please someone help me! :( im petrified

Anxiety and pain will increase your BP. It sounds as if there’s a plausible explanation for the raised BP.
see your GP and tell them how you feel.
Try some mindfulness or calming meditation.
Distract yourself and keep busy and remind yourself you are going to be okay.

Okay first of all, why are you measuring your blood pressure? Just stop! As per previous poster, anxiety will raise your blood pressure and there is nothing to be gained from checking it in an anxious state and spiralling when you see higher readings than usual.

Mefenamic acid and naproxen are not "very strong painkillers". They are standard medications to help with period pain and heavy periods.

Why do you think you are going to have a heart attack? You are almost certainly not going to have one as you are young.

I would second speaking to the GP about your anxiety, as it's out of control and affecting you badly.

I am sorry about the pain you're in, I would recommend considering a TENS machine to help. "Myoovi" make lovely little discreet ones for period pain.

You need to book in to see your GP. Echo the comments above but they can adjust your medication to aid with pain relief, they can investigate your symptoms if needed, and they can support with your anxiety.

Is the pelvic pain due to your PCOS ? Have you been referred to a specialist by your GP ?

You do realise that repeated checking of blood pressure only makes it go up ? You shouldn’t be doing this as you’ll only get false readings and fuel your anxiety.

Yoit GP has told you that your dizziness is likely due to your pain meds. This is likely the case but probably being worsened by your anxiety.

You’re young so a heart attack is unlikely. Easier said than done but you need to chill !

Edit to say, also a good idea to go back to your GP. What help are you getting for anxiety ?
