My daughter got this new bag that she loves but the stitching is coming away around the logo. Is there a way I can make this look good as new for her?

Thanks 😃

You would have to get the loose end back through one of the stitch holes from the inside, I imagine it’s lined though. If it’s new I’d take it back tbh.

Get some thick black thread and a sturdy needle and go over the stitching.

Alternatively, snip off close and put a tiny drop of glue on it to stop it fraying.

They offered us a 50% refund if we kept it. Seemed like a good deal, but I just want to do a good job of the repair now. Maybe that was the wrong call… 🙈 Money’s tight so was thinking from that perspective.

Burn it, with a lighter. Seriously.

Pull the loose thread through to the back, using a needle, and very carefully use a flame to ‘melt’ it. it will stop it fraying be very careful though

@BuddhaAtSea crossed but yes the polyester melts and never frays again

Trouble is, the bag is lined, so I can’t get to the back.

Just use the lighter on the outside then but so briefly, trim down what you can first. Steady hands !

CalzoneOnLegs · 15/08/2025 20:15

The lighter method also works on ribbon ends and any kind of cord / string made of plastic actually

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/08/2025 20:17

if you’re not comfortable holding a lighter to it then you can heat up the tip of the sewing needle till it glows and use that to more precisely melt the thread. Won’t be as quick but you’ll get the same result.

UpMyself · 15/08/2025 20:17

Use a not too thin needle the point towards you and poke the loose thread into the 'hole' in the label until the thread lies flat.

EmpressoftheMundane · 15/08/2025 20:19

Melting the polyester thread sounds like a good idea.
