I visited the V&A East Storehouse last week and what a great experience!

The V&A East opens next year but in the meantime the Storehouse is open

I'm often interested in a building itself, never mind the contents, and this building doesn't disappoint.

It's less than a 10 minute walk from Hackney Wick overground station.

All free of course!

Glad to hear it’s a good place to visit? How long did you spend there? And did you take children - or if not do you think children would find it interesting?

We stayed about 90 minutes.

There are observation platforms where you can watch the staff, restorers, etc going about their work.

There is also the following, although we didn't do this.

Storehouse is home to the revolutionary Order an Object experience. You can book a free appointment online at least two weeks before your visit to see any object on site up close, and experienced handling staff will be on hand to help you. You can also request to view items from the archives held here, including The National Video Archive of Performance (NVAP), and some items from the National Art Library.

There were a few children - IMO it's not suitable for young children under say 10. There was a family of three children who at a guess were 7,8,9 with work sheets and the parents were pointing things out. Maybe there are children's events that I wasn't aware of.

The children that were there were fascinated by the glass floor that you can walk over and watch what's going on below!
