Get a dog.

Longer answer, the only thing that has solidly worked to stop cats in our garden was next door getting a dog. Even then, they were back after a year as they realised the dog doesn't come over the fence to our garden .

We have the same problem and it really pisses me off. Haven’t found any solutions though 🤷‍♀️

Urgh, we had this. We bought a spray on Amazon which worked after we sprayed it every night for a week. Thankfully, it didn't seem to bother our own cat.

Watching this with hope. We have them shitting all over our garden. We've not lived here long but Google tells us they hate certain plans like lavender. They hate vinegar. We are going to get one of those sensory things that make a sound only cats can hear and they don't like it.

I was told by someone that Jeyes Fluid works. Anything that they don’t like the smell of.

Jeyes fluid is toxic to cats. So yes it will work if you want to kill off all the neighbourhood cats.

Lion dung or urine

Ebay have repellent spray, bloody expensive though! Wish I knew who owned the cat, I’d be getting them to clean it!

Pressed too soon. Going to try vinegar first

We’ve got Jeyes Fluid but sounds like I’d better not

Black pepper sprinkle all round

MsMarble · 15/08/2025 12:42

A little bit of olbas oil in water. Spray it a few times a day. Cats hate the smell and it breaks the habit.

ImWearingPantaloons · 15/08/2025 12:44

Scrub with biological washing powder to break the enzymes down so it ceases to smell like an appropriate place to wee

Ficklebricks · 15/08/2025 12:44

Garlic powder is the most effective thing I've ever found. I think it's toxic to cats so try and put it in pot plants out of the way of where they will be walking. It does make our garden stink though!

TeapotCollection · 15/08/2025 12:55

We have Olbas

Thank you for sharing 👍

Don't use disinfectant - there's something in it that smells like urine to cats, so they will continue to pee there.
Scrub it with an enzyme cleaner to get rid of the scent.
Something like a motion activated sprinkler/or noise would help to put them off.
