Toddler rash - very worried opinions very much appreciated

Toddler 2.5 has had a rash for coming up to 3 weeks. I have been to the doctors twice and pharmacy and of course conflicting advice. I will be going back to the doctors tomorrow and pushing for a referral and further tests but I would like to see if any mums have had anything similar.
the rash started nearly 3 weeks ago. Started on his right thigh very bumpy and rough and wa son one side only. Now it’s on both forearms both thighs and stomach. Stayed the same for a week and a half or so now and maybe redder. Itches him but not a crazy amount, more so in the mornings but seem him scratch time to time throughout the day
is fine In himself, only thing noted was was very snooty the week before it appeared but certainly not unwell enough to warrant a GP visit. I work for nhs and just feel you get constantly fobbed off with “viral”
pharmacist has scared the shit out of me now saying I should push for bloods as it couldn’t possibly be allergic or viral as it would y have stayed for a few weeks and would have come and gone. Any experiences would be very much appreciated. I will attach pics

This is what my child's eczema looks like

Ferretedaway · 14/08/2025 23:39

Could it be heat rash?

eczema is usually insanely itchy .

My kids had similar - bumpy rush of the skin colour, them changing to red spots all over the body. Gp said an allergy or viral, I thought it was an immune reaction to virus as had few episods, triggered by cold. They are also prone to eczema but this rash impacted more areas. It lasted few weeks but eventually cleared up .

Looks like an allergic reaction or a viral rash of some kind.

Have you changed your washing powder recently?
Has anything else changed?

Conversensational · 15/08/2025 07:21

If it doesn't blanch them back to gp.

If it does blanch then I would apply aloe Vera (straight from the plant if possible) and I would look at your washing powder. The fact it stops at short level suggests it's clothing.

I would strip wash their clothes as a minimum (lot hot wash with no powder or any washing liquids or softeners, just water)

Thanks everyone for your opinions and experiences. The doctor I saw today thinks it’s a heat rash. I’m struggling to believe a heat rash stays for 3 weeks and doesn’t come and go….. his tonsils are red but not with pus and they are always enlarged anyway.

My daughter gets viral rashes like that.
She's had one recently that looked like urticarial wheels, quite large ones and it turned out to be viral. It coincided with a snotty nose and lasted around 10 days.
My son used to get them that lasted 2-3 weeks.
