GLP-1 Con or worth trying?

LookAtThatMartin · 14/08/2025 12:33

I’m desperate to lose weight but have limited mobility and walking is very painful.
I’m loath to go to my doctors as I have a phobia. (Simple health check discovered I had bowel cancer 6 years ago - all ok now)

Has anyone tried this and it worked? I’m wary of people who give it a rave review but only joined FB a week ago In order to post it!

Any help happily received.

GLP1 is the hormone that is involved in the weight loss injections such as Mounjaro which are very effective. A news article on Radio 4 the other week said the pill form showed promise with bodyweight reducing in a trial by 12%, though the injections yielded more like 18% but obviously a pill might feel easier than a jab. I'd be wary of the facebook ads. Can you contact a GP online?

Thank you for your reply.
the GLP - 1 looks to be something you drink, not a tablet.
Im so unsure but also so unhappy and need to make this change.

That sounds like a scam - what is the product you've looked at?

GLP-1 is the active ingredient in the weightloss injections. The big pharmaceutical companies are racing each other to release an oral (tablet/drink) version and haven’t done so yet.

If the big pharaoh haven’t released it yet it is because it isn’t in existence or safe yet.

Ifnyou want to try GLP-1 get it prescribed!

Don't buy random shite off Facebook.

Go to the drs, try to remember when you go, they won't be giving you any illness or diseases, just letting you know if its there. I know its tough, but try and use the logical side of your mind.

It’s a scam. Do not risk your health or waste your money buying snake oil from the internet.

Mainly advertised on FB but they are also sold on Amazon. They look like small plastic vials that you snap the top off and drink.

This is a scam product.

Pwyl · 14/08/2025 13:29

Don’t buy that. The reviews are pretty awful, they apparently come with no info in the box, if they worked there would be no market for wegovy, if the answer to weight loss was a 25 quid product from a random Amazon seller

If you have the budget to pay, then you would be looking at a private prescription for a weight loss injection through a reputable online pharmacy. You can see a full list of them somewhere like monj.co.uk
It sounds like you might well be eligible (BMI over 30, or 27 with health conditions). Your NHS GP is unlikely to be helpful.
Amazon and Facebook are 100% going to be scams.

KnewYearKnewMe · 14/08/2025 14:39

@LookAtThatMartin - even the rating on that picture you shared is 2.5 - it’s a scam.

GLP-1 injections such a Mounjaro aren’t though - can you afford them through a reputable supplier?

That's complete tripe. You might as well use the foot stickers that claim to remove impurities from the blood stream....

If you are looking for actual medication, and fall into a BMI of over 30 (variations apply if you're a POC) then look into pharmacies - including many local pharmacies - who can prescribe something like semaglutide, Mounjaro, Ozempic, Wegovy etc.

GLP-1 medications are prescription only. But can be prescribed by a pharmacist after a consultation.
