Where do people in hot countries/who live by the coast go on holiday?

Please don’t flame me for asking a stupid question. I know that there are all sort of types of holiday not just beach/beach holiday abroad. I know that there are city breaks/skiing and much more and that people can travel we’ve they want.

But for us and I’m sure for a lot of people, our main types of holiday would be a warm country by the sea, or a UK holiday, by the sea.

So if you live in Cornwall for example, would you travel to the beach or to another coastal area to go on holiday?

Do those who live in warm countries bother travelling to other warm countries for a beach holiday?

Where do Australian people holiday?

Hi OP - we have been to other parts of the UK on holiday but no coastal places as we have so many beautiful beaches on our doorstep. We tend to prefer lakes or rivers or mountains. My teen DC like city breaks particularly for the shopping.

Having said that we have also done some short breaks to European cities on the coast like Malaga and Palma, or camping in France on the coast when they were little.

On balance I would say that a beach holiday abroad is still appealing because of the cultural differences but in the UK we prefer a change of landscape.

My friend lives in Orlando really near a lake and also has a condo on a beach nearish her house. She loves to visit Europe especially on a cruise. She also likes city breaks in America, she would never go on a beach holiday.

Some friends of ours live in Penzance. They are very outdoorsy and normally holiday in the UK in places like the Lake District, Snowdonia, Peak District etc.

I live on the border of Devon and Cornwall and I go to our beautiful beaches and our moors all year round except in the summer. We go until early July and not again until September. We go away to Spain/France/Portugal in the non-hot months. We tend to stay home in the summer months (but avoid tourist areas) or at most, we do a week in Wales (visiting family). Also do weekend city breaks, though outside of school holidays.

In my experience living in several ‘hot countries’ in Europe and Asia, for holidays people often go to mountain resorts in the summer months. Then go to the beaches in the months in between the really hot ones and the rainy season.
