Feeling poorly, would you tell DP?

Yes, I'm feeling sorry for myself and have time on my hands.

I'm not feeling very well. I'm not desperately ill, I just don't feel well. Wasn't working today anyway so am having a lazy day.

I wasn't feeling great when DP left last night, he made sympathetic noises and I said I'll be fine by morning (which I expected to be).

He's messaged this morning about something he's doing to help me, but didn't ask how I was feeling. We don't generally text during the day, unless there's a reason to, like the thing he's helping me with.

I'm poorly and bored and was going to respond thank you, I'm not feeling well.

But that seems a bit wet, and what is he supposed to do about it anyway 😆

I'm not really taking it as seriously as it sounds, but I'm wondering (as I have time on my hands) what the norm is. Would you send a message just to say you don't feel great and seek some sympathy?

Just say thanks I am still not feeling very from last night so having a restfulday , why would it be wet to say that?

It would raise all kinds of concerns for me if I thought a friend of mine was dedicating this much analysis to whether it was ‘wet’ to tell her boyfriend she was ill.

Yes and I did try to say it's only because I'm bored and probably being more lazy than the level of illness requires.

I'm not analysing. Just musing. I haven't had anyone to tell for years, and don't get ill very often 🤞

How random

Wth am I reading 🤣🤣🤣🤣

does it matter? Unless u want him to actually do something I can’t see the point and why would u ask on here if u should tell him

Grown adults should not use the words feeling poorly just say your ill or unwell.
It gives me the cringe its a me problem.

TomatoSandwiches · 12/08/2025 11:57

Haven't you got anything more important to think about?

Too right it's a "you" problem. Where I'm from, it's a perfectly normal and reasonable word to describe being under the weather. It's not at all childish.

Well, do something, if the laziness isn't making you feel chilled? Watch something undemanding on TV, old black and white films? Lie in the garden in shade?

I'm with @Avoidhumans -- the word 'poorly' makes me feel murderous.

Poorly is something my gran said, regional I think. I use it tongue in cheek to mean making a fuss about nothing much 😆

No, I specifically said that I don't 🤣

He knew that you weren't feeling great last night but didn't bother to ask how you were this morning? He doesn't sound very caring op I hope you feel better soon.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 12/08/2025 12:20

Why do you worry and overthink so much about what you say to your partner? it shouldn’t be this hard
