Best gift voucher for new home

We want to get a gift voucher, probably £100 or so, for some very close friends. They are currently renovating their house so I’d like to get a voucher for them to spend it on something impractical and beautiful - for example a picture, cushions or plant rather than taps or crockery.

John Lewis was my default but I wondered if anyone could recommend anywhere a bit unique? Their style is quite minimalist and modern, but with a cosy feel. In their 50s. Ideally where they could get something for around the £100 mark as wouldn’t want items to be loads more so they have to spend lots!

I’d go with John Lewis to be honest. I love a John Lewis voucher.

Google rabbit hole, I came across coxandcox.com - anyone bought from there?

@TeenLifeMum- yep, me too but trying to think outside the JL default box for this one!

What’s your reason for wanting something different? That understanding might help with advice.

What are they into? If it is stuff thst can be bought in John Lewis, I would do that. Also be prepared that they can spend it on whatever they want, so might not follow your brief.

Needmorelego · 11/08/2025 21:22

What shops do they have nearby that they can use?
I personally really like a lot of the home stuff from Primark and £100 would buy several items.

CrochetYayBeanHead · 11/08/2025 21:25

Because I want it to be for them to properly treat themselves, as I know the extras add up! I won’t be gifting it with stipulations on what it can and cannot be used for, but being close to them know they’d like to splurge on some decorative bits rather than sockets and a new frying pan!

I’d like something a bit different just so it’s a bit more special for them, as mentioned JL is my usual default, but a quick google shows so many other options I thought I’d used MN to see if there were any other recommended options.

Ikea?

RedPanda2022 · 11/08/2025 21:32

John Lewis all the way!

MidnightPatrol · 11/08/2025 21:32

Graham and Green is nice

mellongoose · 11/08/2025 21:33

Oliver Bonas.

Fluffywabbits · 11/08/2025 21:35

Another vote for JL. It's the go to option for good reason ... niche is risky!

1AnotherOne · 11/08/2025 21:36

John Lewis or Homesense for me

FloraBotticelli · 11/08/2025 22:18

Perhaps Anthropologie for a splurgey treat? ( £100 might not go very far)

Or the White Company does nice home bits

I imagine John Lewis would go down well tbh.

JW13 · 11/08/2025 22:35

I like both cox and cox and graham and green. You mentioned their style is quite minimal - Heals could be a good alternative?

WanderingWisteria · 11/08/2025 22:38

What’s their financial situation? A friend was delighted with the £50 B&Q voucher as they could spend it on the utterly practical things that they needed.

WizardofCoz · 11/08/2025 23:04

Homesense 🫶

caffelattetogo · 11/08/2025 23:43

Just cash. Vouchers are awful. You can’t beat actual cash, that they can spend wherever they like.

SkinnyOatFlatWhiteForMePlease · 11/08/2025 23:50

White company have some lovely home wear items.

CrochetYayBeanHead · 16/08/2025 13:22

Some brilliant suggestions here, thank you all.
