Post holiday blues - any tips?

Mummen · 10/08/2025 21:21

We have just come back from a 2 week family holiday - back to work tomorrow and I have major post holiday blues.

I'm thinking of telling work to F off, packing us all up and moving to Greece to live a simple, carefree, Mediterranean lifestyle (with aircon obvs).

Does anyone have any better suggestions for dealing with post holiday blues?

Start planning another one!

100% book another one - it’s the only way around it.

Planning another one does seem like a less risky option. Maybe a bit too conventional for my newfound sense of freedom though.

Where would you go?

Make a serious escape plan from your job and start living a more simple, carefree life at home in the meantime.

That's an idea. Have you done it?

Agree, plan another one. I’m spending all my free time researching for next summer.

Plan another. And book a smaller one, weekend away or something that’s closer to look forward to.

I’m in the exact same boat! Somehow need to get myself back into work-mode tomorrow when last week I was being bought cocktails to my sun bed on the beach. I’m dreading tomorrow.

Went to Rhodes this time - to an all inclusive resort so very unadventurous and not at all like it would be living there! We did loads of activities and days out of the resort though and it was just so good to do things with the kids without having to look presentable or think about the usual day to day grind.

Someone might bring you a cup of tea tomorrow if you're lucky!! It's going to be such a come down.

I know that by lunchtime I'll be right back into it and will have forgotten I was even off.

I love planning holidays. We prefer self catering so I often look on websites and plan which one to stay in next holiday.

We mix it up and will probably do self catering or b&b next year. I have never been organised enough to book a year in advance though so the good self catering places are already booked by the time I start thinking about a summer holiday. Maybe these post holiday blues will encourage me to get something planned in earlier this time.
