You’re probably best looking up ‘how to’ videos on YouTube

IAmNotASheep · 09/08/2025 16:09

You tube have videos on all this sort of stuff
Both are very easy imo

Wow so you think I can or DH do it ourselves ? We don't even need a plumber ?

I wouldn’t say easy but it can be done.

Soontobe60 · 09/08/2025 18:08

By ‘plastic’ do you mean the vertical strip on the edge of the door? If so, you can buy this at Screwfix / B+Q or a local plumbers merchant.
Taps can be tricky depending on whether you can get under the bath to reach the fixings.

We put in new bath taps, it was fiddly because the taps are at the end but it was ok, obviously you will need to turn the water off at the mains and if you have a hot water tank drain that but it wasn't a difficult job.

Do you mean the rubber seal underneath the shower door which stops the water splashing over the side of the bath? We got a replacement for that on Amazon. It comes straight and you just bend it to fit.

IAmNotASheep · 09/08/2025 18:42

Yes. You can. I’ve fitted entire bathrooms with just needing a little help with the heavy lifting ( I am not a man btw) and I’m not a plumber.
( except for electrics of course )

You will need to see what fittings are on your taps. Take pics. Have a look on YouTube at instructions. If you do have a go have the correct tools and remember to turn the water off at the main inlet. You will also need towels.
The silicone edging comes in different widths to attach to the doors. Some might be 3mm or more. Wickes or Screwfix will probably stock it

Thanks I can't believe it we've had a leaky door for years with many other things taking my attention I don't know why I used to think it would need a whole new door and it's curved.

So it's called silicone edging strip

Yes. Just pop into Wickes of similar and they’ll point you in the right direction

Get a plumber to do it

DilemmaDelilah · 10/08/2025 11:16

It all depends on how handy you are. Bath taps are a nightmare due to where they are positioned... I wouldn't do it myself, I would get a plumber. It involves lots of lying on the floor half under the bath (with the spiders) and its really important to get it right so there are no leaks. The actual process isn't that difficult if you have modern fittings already - much more complicated if you have old fashioned fittings/pipework - it's the position you have to work in and the lack of visibility.

@DilemmaDelilah thanks yes I think we would try and get a plumber .I don't know how to work out what size etc .
I'm hoping the plumbing is new because the whole bathroom was done about 16 heads ago
