Just that really:)

I think I'd prefer a solid container like the IKEA ones.

I use pyrex lidded dishes that are about the size of a takeaway container. Perfect serving size for a main for the two of us. IIRC they are 800ml. Then I have some bigger ones that are good for stews and things where you want a bigger serving.

If you were to make individual meals for 1 I think this size would probably fit your main and carbohydrate but probably wouldn't be big enough to fit veg as well.

500ml from asda. I make it as full ready meal with rice etc

beachwalkx · 07/08/2025 15:40

I use Pyrex/glass ones with lids that are about 800ml and that works well for cottage pie/stew then enough room to add extra veg

murasaki · 07/08/2025 15:43

We use the old boxes from takeaway curries.

Jellycatspyjamas · 07/08/2025 15:44

I use these too, they do 2 portions of something like bolognaise or one portion of cottage pie. Perfect for cooking from frozen.

I use old Chinese takeaway boxes. They are quite robust, I have been re-using them for years.
One box serves curry for two. Or curry-with-the-rice for one.
They are about 400ml.

I use whatever tub I can find the matching lids for that fits about 4 ladles worth 🤣 my measurement in life is in ladles.

ManyShapesOfPasta · 07/08/2025 15:47

I use these too, so easy and no lids going missing

CoffeeMad18 · 07/08/2025 15:50

I use these as they stack in the freezer and are great for work.

We use these and then put the blocks into thick freezer bags once they've frozen. They're a real space saver.

I use ikea food bags, take up less space

womananddog · 07/08/2025 16:55

I use 600ml - this is big enough for a main and side eg chilli and rice for me, but would be too small if you want larger portions. I have a lot of plastic tubs but am moving over to glass with plastic lids. Rectangular containers stack neatly in the freezer

Becs258 · 07/08/2025 17:10

I use a mix of bags, takeaway boxes and the glass storage. All have their benefits, and as
we have an extra outside freezer, I do a lot of batch cooking. Bags frozen flat are definitely the most space saving, and can be washed and reused.

CarpetKnees · 07/08/2025 17:12

We use the old containers from when we've had a Chinese Takeaway.

I have no idea of their capacity, but just put a portion in, the same size as I would put a portion on a plate if I've made a load to freeze, or, 'whatever is left in the pan' if it is more a thing of freezing leftovers.

Pinkfluffypencilcase · 07/08/2025 17:13

I use the ikea ones too. They’re flexible enough to be able to pop out the block straight into the pan to defrost.

one tub is enough for a meal for me and dd. Just add rice or pasta.

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 07/08/2025 17:13

The standard ones we get from the Chinese takeaway!

MOOONCAT · 07/08/2025 17:15

We use old takeaway ones as well.
