Can’t go after hysteroscopy unless someone collects me?

Posting for traffic, sorry!

I am down to have a hysteroscopy under ‘light anaesthetic’. The admissions team have said someone has to collect me else they won’t let me go home. It’s proving super challenging to find anyone that could collect me. It’s about two hours away on the train (two trains in fairness).

Has anyone got any experience to know whether I’d likely be ok on the train or not if I can find someone to come and meet me and see me onto the train?

And if I can’t find anyone, will they really not let me go?

I am a single parent and have a limited support network.

Can't the hospital arrange transport for you maybe? There must be alternative options for people in your position. Plus, although not advisable, you could just do what you want, they can't keep you prisoner . Hope you get it sorted x

Why on earth would the hospital arrange transport? They’re not a taxi firm!

Google it, and while you are there Google the word " maybe".

Thanks for all the posts everyone. They didn’t say whether I need to be not on my period but I expect not. Which means I might have to move it anyway. Argh! The joys of unpredictable periods.

I’ve had loads of these as I kept having bleeds or adverse reactions and I’ve never been told this. They do ask how you’re getting home.
I’m mostly picked up afterwards when it’s outpatient but after one under a general anaesthetic I got a taxi and the nurse walked me outside to make sure I wasn’t alone. I had complications and needed a week off work so I couldn’t have driven myself home.
Last one, which finally worked, my DC picked me up and I was glad of it. I was as high as a kite after the meds (which he found hilarious) and in a lot of discomfort (which is normal). There’s no way I could have driven anywhere safely.

I had this after a stomach biopsy. I ended up signing a form to say they werent liable if they let me leave-- but that was after the procedure so it had already happened, I had previously said someone was collecting me. I got two buses home, realise now I was quite hammered but I was never in danger.
