Hi all,

so I was really interested in a property in my area that’s become vacant, I was told you have to bid so the minute I saw it I did. I heard it was first come first served but reading about it that seems unusual? They don’t go off priority or banding? Is this right?

Council, social housing, private renting or buying?

AFAIK it is based on banding too, but your bids do count. E.g. someone bids first but they're already in a suitable houses, the second bidder is in an overcrowded house, and the third bidder is homeless. The third bidder has priority and will be offered the house first. The third bidder might decline it if they've found somewhere more suitable, so the second bidder will be offered it, and then the first.

I think I was confused because it literally says it will go to whoever bids first
