Skincare help - rosacea (?) treatments. Pic included

Can I have some advice for my skin. I’m fed up of hating looking in a mirror. I generally avoid them.

I’ve tried Rozex which didn’t do much. I’m wondering about splashing £50 on Soolantra but I hear it’s pretty powerful stuff and better for pustules.

Any tips or advice welcome.

To add, my skin texture isn’t very good. Looks a bit like orange skin with many visible pores.

What are you using at the moment? Soolantra can be prescribed from the GP.

SpinningTops · 05/08/2025 07:09

I was using rozex along with a simple skincare routine. But dropped the rozex and just a simple skincare. I think it’s cetaphil cleanser and then Ceravae moisturiser.

Soolantra is the only thing that shifted mine, on prescription!

I don’t think a GP would want to jump straight to the most intense treatment but I could get it from an online pharmacy without going through the GP.

Try Soolantra.
stop soap, retinol and anything harsh.
Look at dietary triggers.
IPL is very effective treatment for rosacea. Lots of salons do this.

Try Kanzen.
You get a refund if it doesn't work for you. Not expensive.

SwayingInTime · 05/08/2025 07:14

Dermatica start you on ivermectin for rosacea and it's only £2.90 to try. Don't know if the strength is the same though.

They would if that's what would cute it. I would see the GP . I have friend who have been prescribed it.

Soolantra works only thing that did for mine, I didn't have the pustules , just the redness and irritation. Starting working within a week great stuff. I also only use moogoo skincare its very soothing and no irritation. Good luck finding something that works x

For the flushing I found azelaeic acid really effective. I basically eliminated the flushing and now know which triggers to avoid. I get soolantra from the gp when I have a flare up of the blemishes.

By the way, I find I have a couple of big flare ups each year which seem to relate to sunlight exposure in the spring then again in the autumn when the central heating comes on. I also react to red wine, hormones (pregnancy, contraceptives, periods) and lots of cosmetics.

Whatkatyforgottodo · 05/08/2025 07:54

I think my rosacea was worse than yours but it’s really cleared up since I started using Sunday Riley good genes glycolic acid. However this seems to go against the advice of using gentle products on your skin so I would maybe treat it with caution. I’ve also cut down on the amount of wine I drink which I think has helped. I’ve attached some before and after photos.

If you wear SPF it's worth laying off that for a bit to see if that irritates your skin,I have to be super careful with what I use.

KurtCobainLover · 05/08/2025 07:57

I use Soolantra and it’s made a huge difference. My GP was very happy to prescribe it after me doing an econsult and sending in pictures.

SpinningTops · 05/08/2025 08:15

OK, I have just at done an econsult for the GP so hopefully they will come back to me willing to prescribe.

I had a game changing success with cetaphil foaming facial cleanser for redness prone skin.
Also cut out alcohol completely
