Half term clubs/school clubs costs

Good afternoon,

Just working out the best way of working my daughter starting school and our minds have wondered towards half term clubs we've seen advertised.

Would anybody be willing to tell me how much you pay? And for what? She will be 4.

I'm guesstimating around £40 per day but that's based on no facts just what I feel.

Trying to decide on how my work hours should look going forward.

Thank you.

They vary a lot. If you can access a council run sports type club in morning then arts and crafts in the afternoon often they only cost about £25 per day and DC takes own packed lunch. Private ones can cost anything up to £80 per day and some cook food for DC. Do a check on what is available locally during the summer break because they are often the same things over half terms. Ask around other parents in local area too. Half term clubs often book up a few minutes after midnight on the day the online bookings open.

Oh thank you for your reply.
It's another minefield of this school age world.

We pay between £25 and £40 for different clubs. There are different hours available, some 9-3 which are cheaper and some 8-6. You can use tax free childcare if they are a registered provider.

My son does a football camp, it’s £25 a day 9-3 (doesn’t go every day)

Clubs are around £31 - £37 per child here (West Midlands). You will find a lot are sports based - difficult if you don't have a sporty child, but some do offer films, crafts, cake decorating and that sort of thing on the side.

You do have to be on the ball and be on their mailing lists/social media to see when new dates are released so they don't get booked up.

We find creating a spreadsheet useful with childcare dates for the summer. We colour code it for holidays clubs, holiday dates booked off work and days when grandparents will have the kids and then I programme it into my phone calendar.
