Long wait for STI test?

Not sure what topic to put this in, sorry. But worried after an incident last night and having Googled this morning.

I arranged an intimate meeting with a man I’d been talking to from an OLD app. I have done this a small number of times previously and obviously always have safe sex (as well as doing other things to reassure me about safety eg video chat beforehand etc). Anyway we had sex using a condom but somehow in the act of him withdrawing from me after his climax it sort of rolled inside out and came off, and some of the semen spilled onto me, near to my vagina. Sort of on the upper part of my labia, and onto my pubic hair a bit. Then as I tried to stop it I think I made it worse.

I really don’t know how this happened. It was absolutely an accident and he was as mortified as I was.

I think the risk is low but I am still worried. Pregnancy wise I am due on my period in the next couple of days so hopefully low risk. I have taken emergency contraception nonetheless. But STI wise I Googled and it said that ideally I should wait several weeks for a test! Is that right? I’d want reassurance quicker than that I hope.

He says he is STI free and I’ve no reason to doubt him (seems like a genuinely nice man) but obviously will check.

Can’t believe this happened. I have never had a condom split or anything. This must have been close to coming off somehow. Argh.

Doing it too soon could give you a false negative as any infection could be in the incubation stage and not show up in a test

if you went now they’d possibly refuse to do it as can’t guarantee it would be accurate
it if they did they’d advise you to repeat the test a month after your 1st one

Argh. I don’t want to wait a month 😢

Such a stupid thing. I feel so silly.

Tbf many of them will say they’re STI free having never had a test!
Yes it’s best to wait for an incubation period and if you DTD again he needs to hold the condom when withdrawing to stop it coming off.
He needs a test as well. Raise it with him and if knows exactly to where to go then that’s a little more reassuring that he could have been before and his claim of being STI free might be ok. If he doesn’t have a clue I wouldn’t believe a word he says.

Best to call the sexual health clinic in your area for advice.

We both know how to use condoms. I think it was just in the process of coming off somehow anyway.
He mentioned an STI test without me mentioning it. I do believe him. But regardless of whether or not his claim to be STI free is true or not I am still going to get tested. Just apparently not for a month!
