Recommended Places To Buy Rabbit Toys?

Has anyone bought good quality stuff anywhere apart from Pets at Home? They have nice things but tend to be expensive. Our bunnies are very well cared for & get to roam the garden but not all day as they fight so the 2 pairs have to be let out separately. I worry that the pair who are not out get bored in their hutch. We did get some mobiles but they weren’t really interested & they do have a couple of short plastic tunnels. DH hides pellets in some hay in a cardboard box on its side & they enjoy going in there. One of our old rabbits used to love playing in a box of shredded paper. Any suggestions for suitable toys welcome. Are those puzzle trays any good, where they have to hunt for a treat?

My local garden centres all have pet sections - don’t know if all garden centres do, but might be worth having a look.

I used to have 6 houserabbits pre-kids (we had dwindled to one by the time DC1 was born).
We used to buy things when we saw them, so we got some toys from the baby section of shops (ones they couldn't eat; they really loved a particular jingly fabric ball) and some toys from the dog section (usually safer for chewing but make sure nothing with bones/that meaty scent they seem to impregnate some dog toys with). We also used to make loads of toys for them out of cardboard such as a dig box and a load of play tunnels connected with cardboard castles for running around the living room. One rabbit particularly liked cardboard packaging from the recycling in lots of different colours (like jaffa cake boxes etc) and used to spend a lot of time chewing them into shapes which was cute.
The puzzle trays are very much a one hit wonder and they lose interest after about 20 mins IME.

I don't have a bunny as I have a terrier but I adore rabbits so follow a lot of rabbit owners on Tik Tok. I notice that a lot use an enrichment toy by a company called Trixie. If you have Tik Tok just pop toys for rabbit in search, there are lots of ideas on there.

I found small businesses on instagram to be the best bet. I unfollowed them all after my last rabbit died earlier this year, but I think one might have been called cozy castles and then hopefully that will gateway you into the algorithm.

But I think it depends on the rabbit, I had one that loved a puzzle and another that didn’t care at all. The best activities were often homemade with treats and cardboard tubes or boxes stuffed with hay or paper. Or the inordinately expensive corrugated cardboard toys from pets at home - they had them in the shapes of little houses and bridges and both bunnies LOVED shredding them down to nothing.

Notmyreality · 02/08/2025 10:42

Well that’s disappointing.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 02/08/2025 10:49

I think you should ask to have the title changed to ‘toys for rabbits’ OP

YetanotherNC25 · 02/08/2025 11:59

Due to an unfortunate incident recently where mine broke, I thought this thread was going to way more useful than it actually is.
Change your thread title to avoid more disappointment.

RabbitsRock · 02/08/2025 16:58

Oops never even thought about the connotations of my title! 🤣🤣🤣
