What do you do with your DP once the kids are in bed?

We often do DIY, chat, or watch TV. I'd like ideas for other indoor things which are sociable. Board/card games are obvious but I'm not really into those. Would be nice if we can either chat while doing the activity, or if the activity directly involves chatting iyswim.

It's his birthday soon so I'm happy to spend up to £50.

Thanks for any ideas!

These table tennis nets that you put onto your dining table are fun! (But might end up a bit noisy when the kids are in bed)

Haha brilliant! Unfortunately that wouldn't work for us due to our room setup, but this is exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for - something I never would have thought of.

Lego. Quizzes. Shagging.

FamBae · 31/07/2025 20:13

How about a murder mystery for two, they are very reasonable and you could include a favourite supper. Only drawback would be that once you've completed it you probably won't use it again, but you could re gift it.

I don't see shagging as a particularly conversational activity myself, but each to their own.

We love scrabble and chess, we've actually been learning chess together. They have "Just Dance" videos on YouTube and they're a huge laugh, absolutely hilarious. We also love saving our evening meal till late sometimes and cooking from fresh in the kitchen together, stick some music on and chop, peel, boil etc, all while singing or having a gossip. My cousin has a mini basket ball net she sticks to the wall opposite the settee which her and DH have mini competitions with from their seat haha x

I love all these ideas and admire you all for ha I b the energy 😂 my kids are finally asleep and I’m trying to summon the energy to go downstairs, pack their bags for the morning and empty the dishwasher. Once I’ve done that I will probably just scroll on my phone and fall asleep.

The Exit escape room games are really fun, we sometimes do one of those together! I know you said not board games but they’re not quite like that, they’re very clever!

We used to do some karaoke together! Singstar! We love a singsong Grin thankfully our kids sleep through anything…

Chingo · 31/07/2025 21:16

Thank you 😊 I'll look at murder mystery / escape room type things definitely.
