Waterproof leg cover for swimming?

Hi, my daughter had a nasty wound on her shin a few weeks ago. It's healing nicely but it's still open and I think it's looking like it won't be closed before we go on holiday in 6 days. A major part of our holidays is always swimming in the pool and sea, but she won't be able to swim if the wound is still open.

Had anyone found anything that will keep a leg dry while swimming? I can find loads of waterproof covers for going in the shower with a plaster cast on, but nothing that's actually swim proof. It doesn't need to cover her foot, just the middle of her lower leg.

Thanks!

Cling film.

Elastoplast do various waterproof plasters, specifically for covering wounds. There’s extra large ones and extra tough. You could try some of those out at home in a shower or bath and see how they stand up to it.

Cling film.

I have considered a cling film / duct tape combo but I'm sure there must be a proper something for the job!!

Thanks, I'll have a look, but I think they're waterproof in that they won't come off in water, or are shower proof. I'm looking for something that can stand up to going swimming...

I mentioned them because they specifically refer to swimming and there are several options. Worth considering I'd have thought.

How long are you away for?

Hopefully it’ll be near enough closed/scabbed over by that point to be able to go swimming, and sea water will do it the world of good. I’d say just be patient for a couple days and then let her swim

Look for tattoo plasters. They seem to be large, available
in water proof. Like a massive waterproof plaster.

Thanks, I've checked them out and you're right, the proper Elastoplast ones actually say swimming on them. The reviews are quite good too, so I'll give them a go!

12 days. It was a deep, wide gash right on her shin that was too wide to stitch as she'd lost a load of skin. Poor thing! It's healing well and has grown lots of new flesh but it's still very open. If it wasn't so open then I'd agree that the salt water would be good for it, but it needs to close up more first I think.

Have a look at Limbo

Thanks! Sadly they don't do one that is suitable, but thanks for suggesting it!

Thanks. I've got a couple of those but they're shower proof rather than actually waterproof. Thanks though!
