Best running trainers for narrow feet

Neeeemo · 28/07/2025 09:28

I have size 7.5 feet, and veeeery narrow. Always had issues getting shoes to fit as a child. Has anyone with narrow feet got any brand recommendations I can go and try on?

I have very narrow feet and have found ASICS brilliant

TigerRag · 28/07/2025 10:23

I second Asics. Also found Brooks to fit well

If you have narrow feet then you must have supporting footwear. Never underestimate the damage you get from footwear that does not fit. I recommend going on line to Special Feetures or James Inglis and having a look. Very expensive, but a must for those of us with narrow feet.

Thank you. Unfortunately can't afford these as I need two pairs.

If you have a running store nearby get them fitted properly

Despite having narrow feet I found Hoka were too narrow. But I have been told they do a wide fit

I have very narrow feet but rarely have an issue buying running trainers and have been through most of the major brands in my time (Asics, Brooks, New Balance, Saucony, innov8, la sportiva.....). Mine are shallow as well as narrow but I wear custom orthotics in them which take up some of the depth.

Unmute · 28/07/2025 12:23

Came on to say ASICS but I see everyone else is one step ahead of me!

MymateDave · 28/07/2025 12:42

Under armour I use. Often found cheap in sports direct

I can’t suggest a particular brand but you might see if there is a good small, independent retailer near you. We have one where they put you on a fixed track, film your gait and run it through a computer programme which comes up with 2/3 options. It costs £30 but they deduct it from the cost of the trainers. I ended up with Sacony which are brilliant for me.

MiddleAgedDread · 28/07/2025 13:15

gait analysis is free in all our local running shops!

UpMyself · 28/07/2025 13:20

Go to a proper running shop. They'll advise you and you can try before you buy.

Well it’s free in this one if you buy a pair. They spent about forty minutes with me before showing me any shoes and I guess they need to stop people coming in getting their expertise and sodding off to Amazon.

SplashAndTurn · 28/07/2025 18:27

More important is getting the right one for your gait I.e. do you over or under pronate.

I think if you look at the back of a regular well worn pair of trainers, you can see where you tend to wear the heel down and that will indicate your gait I.e. where your heel strikes.

UpMyself · 28/07/2025 18:28

That seems fair enough, @NellieJean .
I think that a brand name isn't guaranteed quality. Some big brands now do fashion shoes as well as proper running shoes.
If you buy online, the shoes might not fit properly.

I have narrow feet and love my Brooks Ghost in the narrow fitting. I also use the Ghost Catamount (regular fitting) for trail runs. Nb: I’m a 4 shoe size but 5.5 in Brooks.

TheOliveFinch · 17/09/2025 11:02

New Balance do a narrow fit , I have very narrow feet and also had success with a lot of the Asics shoes

UpMyself · 17/09/2025 11:08

Good point @Chickenricesoup.
Shoes either fit or they don't, and my running shoes are always a larger size than my regular shoes. Some brands seem to run small.

Brooks do a narrow width fitting!

Lostatsea2025 · 17/09/2025 11:19

DH has narrow long feet and loves ASICS. I have flippers so need wide fit Brooks 😂

mrssquidink · 17/09/2025 11:24

I am also very narrow (AA width) and over pronate. Brooks definitely do AA width running shoes, as do Saucony. I wouldn’t look at James Inglis as unfortunately they don’t do proper running shoes (as opposed to leisure trainers) in my view.

SabbatWheel · 17/09/2025 11:31

I’m narrow and over pronate and have Asics feet.
However, I’ve had gait analysis done and tried a few different brands in the shop (and always come back to Asics as most comfortable for me).
Gait analysis is helpful, as is the advice of a specialist shop, saves time and ultimately money if you can get it right first time.
I’m on my third different pair of Asics now, each model has been great for distances up to half marathon.

GwendolineWindowlene · 17/09/2025 11:44

I have wide feet, and get on well with Asics. Hoka standard width are too narrow for me, so they might be a good one to try.

NellieJean · 17/09/2025 11:44

A good sports shop with a proper fitting service. Mine has you walking on a treadmill connected to a computer programme which measures gait, pronation etc. The staff do a proper detailed measurement of each foot and then come up with 3/4 recommendations at different price points.

I agree. They do shoes for narrow feet but they don't do running shoes.
