Smear test results 6 months after Colposcopy

Posted here for traffic.
I had abnormal cells last December on my smear test cin 3 so had a colposcopy to remove the cells.
I had a lot of side effects after - 2 days after I started losing a lot of blood and clots getting through 5/6 pads an hour so ended up back in hospital and they resealed the wound but had been talking about taking me into surgery to do so. I came home again and then 3 days later the same thing happened again, the hospital I was sent to didn’t want to do the procedure again so sent me to another hospital 30min drive away. I went straight there and the consultant who was trying to resell the wound was pulling clots out of me and said this should be done in theatre not a clinic. So I was traumatised massively. When I finally got my results the nurse said my results in 6 months should come back as normal and I’d go back on to the 3 year screening, if they came back abnormal again that quickly they may look at something more drastic.

on to now I ended up having a panic attack at my 6month smear test and the GP prescribed diazepam for me to try again, I got through the second attempt and have had my results cin3 cells again. I’ve been googling but everything just talks about the colposcopy being done. So my question is after a long post is has anyone had this and should I be worried as my HPV is obviously fast growing and what will they do? Or recommend?

I had a colposcopy after abnormal results (I couldn’t even tell you how abnormal, it was so long ago now, 18 years probably).

My smear tests remained abnormal for a couple years, then went back to normal, then I eventually went off 6 monthly smears. I have had a colposcopy or two since, but not because of smears (it was due to abnormal bleeding).

I’ve never had another abnormal smear after they went clear and my HPV tests with last smear were negative. I was tested 18 years ago with the first abnormal smear and I had several high risk strains of HPV. So they really can go back to normal again and be fine.

I would advocate for having it done under sedation or GA though if you feel you can’t do it again. There is no reason to put yourself through the trauma unnecessarily.

I’ve just realised that I missed a part and they left some cin1 cells and to remove them they would have to remove part of my vaginal wall.
