Finished a little late as the 7 year old couldn’t quite cope with all the excitement & had to go to bed! He’ll enjoy the penalties tomorrow!!!

Fabulous first football match experience!!!! 😆was surprisingly stressful!!! 😂

Snowypeaks · 27/07/2025 21:48

Thanks for the thread, @Hermyknee
I'm still in shock! Might be back for the trophy lift parade on Tuesday.

SushiSheep · 27/07/2025 21:51

Is stress stomach ache an actual thing?
I haven't had any dinner because my stomach is still in knots!
To think I bought snacks especially for the game ... 😆

Could not care less - hate football in any shape or form.

Awww, are you Spanish by any chance? People on this thread couldn’t care less about your hate for football. Celebrate good times c’mon. 🙌 🥳 🍾

Badfiel and Skinner should re-release their song to ‘Its staying home…’

Lalgarh · 27/07/2025 23:04

God I hope three lions never has to be heard again it's part of the grievance mongering that has overshadowed the English mens game and performance

"Thirty years of hurt" - always hated that line.

the80sweregreat · 28/07/2025 05:03

Next year it’ll be ‘ 60 years of hurt ‘
For the men anyway ..

The pressure Chloe Kelly must have felt during that last penalty, all kudos to her, she really looked like she kept her cool. So impressive!

She is brilliant.

ExitPursuedByABare · 28/07/2025 06:44

She said she felt completely calm. HOW???

Hannah Bronze, it turns out had a fractured Tibia throughout the whole tournament
.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/articles/cwy5vvy275yo

Call me old-fashioned or contrarian but I do not think she should be celebrated for this. Fracturing her tibia during a match without knowing that's what she'd done, playing through the pain, yes. Playing the whole tournament is insane, stupid and - dare I say it - a bit self-centred. We have other right-backs. The courage and stoicism is staggering but ultimately it's just a game of football.

WillowTit · 28/07/2025 09:16

i agree, when she insisted on carrying on playing during the game yesterday, i felt if she wasnt up to standard it was not wise

I can't imagine Chelsea being happy about it either

I'm glad you enjoyed your first experience - but you've been spoilt, as it doesn't always end so well!

I agree actually. And it was Lucy Bronze my typo.

Her mum was on woman's hour this morning and was with the stuff about being an iron woman etc. and higher pain thresholds.

Would , or has a male player ever carried on with a fracture? At college a friend had a brother with a training contract for Newcastle iirc. If he even grazed his ankle he'd get top flight physio and rest on full pay etc. his sister was meanwhile Not An Athlete and having to put up with all sorts like collapsed lungs with barely antibiotics

I've heard of a male player (Cesc Fabregas of Arsenal) playing on with a lower leg fracture but he found out that's what it was afterwards. Never heard of anyone starting a game let alone several games with a broken leg (until now).

That’s how I felt and wondered if I was missing something. Walking on a broken leg unless it has been treated, never mind playing is stupid.

Not good for the other great players that are fully fit potential subs or squad members that she is being praised.

Steelworks · 29/07/2025 12:24

Watching the parade live on tv.
