Could this be shingles?

At the end of May I had a mild flu. Once this passed, I began getting nerve pain down the back of my left leg and front of my shin, it feels like sunburn or a cheese grater has rubbed across my skin.

the back of leg pain subsided but the front of my shin has remained, and sometimes feels worse than two months ago and ive now started to feel the same sensation in my left arm!

I haven’t had a rash but a few weeks ago did get a tiny cold sore. I’m at my wits end and it’s starting to worry me.

is it possible to have weeks of nerve pain prior to a shingles rash forming?

Could it be that you actually had Covid, and these are after effects?

I have shingles at the moment and it is quite unpleasant, rash on upper left body and nerve pain that needs painkillers. I feel generally unwell. I think the pain started only a day or two before the rash. So your symptoms sound dufferent. Did you have chicken pox as a child?

It feels herpetic. I did do a Covid test and it was negative.

It does seem too long to have before a rash. I just don’t know what else it could be. Yes I’ve had chicken pox

The pain and rash are very distinctive with shingles. The 2nd time I had it I knew instantly (exactly same place, 15 years apart). The GP was amazed when I diagnosed myself and she agreed! But there is no other sensation like it.

If you've no rash, I highly doubt it's shingles. It was more like little sores than a rash by the way. I didn't have many spots either.

I’ve just recovered from shingles and had no rash at all. Was really painful mind. It’s rare but can happen. Speak to your doctor. I was on 8 tablets a day.

Where did you have it and what were your symptoms? How was it diagnosed if you had no rash?

Im convinced it’s shingles.

It was over my left arm across my breast and round to my back. I couldn’t wear a bra for weeks. I even googled if I could get gout in my body other than my big toe it was so painful. Went to doctors who diagnosed shingles without the rash. Loads of tablets for over a week. Took about 3 weeks before I could even think about a bra. Still painful though for about 6 - 7 weeks

If you genuinely think you have shingles you need to go and see a doctor or pharmacist for a diagnosis and treatment ASAP. As in, now.

Finally got a drs appointment (a full 19 seconds) he said it’s not shingles. I’ve been sent for blood tests to see if it’s a vitamin deficiency.

The sensation is moving around my body now so I’m hoping it’s just a lack of b12!
