Which dog breed has the waggiest tail?

I say the English Cocker Spaniel. The English Springer is a very close second place but, whenever I see a Cocker in full flight, I'm waiting for their backside to come flying off with their tail!

I’ve got two cavaliers they really do have lovely wagging tails. We’ve always had a cavalier and all been very happy little cuties.

I would take your labrador table clearing, and raise you rottweiler table clearing. 😂

Edited

Thankfully it is increasingly common to see Rottweilers with full tails instead of the docked look.

Our Hungarian Vizsla had such a whippy tail it would bleed as hed whack it against door frames and walls, and our hallway would look like a scene from a horror movie. The vet had to dock his tail in the end as he was constantly breaking the skin. He was the happiest dog we have ever had in our lives (and completely crazy).

We have a Weimaraner and are constantly worried about his ‘happy tail’.
it’s a wonder he hasn’t yet broken it.
he’s whipped it at us on occasion and it’s bloody painful, especially if he catches you in the eye!!!

Not if you have a coffee table full of stuff it isn't 😂

Seriously though, yes it is. My first Rotti was a rescue and he had a docked tail. Heaven knows what sort of carnage he would have inflicted with a full tail. Way more than the current labrador 😂

English Bull Terrier, full body wag, long tail and very whippy!

No one has mentioned Border Collies yet. They have a manic air about them when they're not rounding up sheep.

Edit. Jack Russell/collie cross has been mentioned. Really should read my own thread!

My friends springer spaniel wagged his tail whilst asleep. Never stopped wagging.
My staffie is a close second but only when awake.

My Samoyeds tail is super fluffy, waggy and has gears, cat walks by, curls up and wags a little, cat looks at her, tail goes up a gear, touch noses, tail in 4th gear, sees the cat outside in the garden, top speed, super sports mode of both tail, legs and woof box 🤪

LetMeGoogleThat · 28/07/2025 12:53

I reckon Labrador's, my old Lab broke her tail from wagging it!

TheTecknician · 28/07/2025 16:55

Cats don't wag like dogs do but I think they thrash theirs about like a whip when they're cross about something .
