The IMF has said that the government will need to raise taxes. One way is NHS charges. This will be means tested I should add. It's being covered in the financial times, telegraph and others but hidden behind a pay wall. I don't know how to archive, if anyone else does please do.

I don't know which one I would choose, it's a thorny problem.

I do think having to pay would mean people would only see the Doctor if they really needed to. Rather than going for minor ailments (which I’ve been guilty of in my younger years)

Saying 'No' as it could very much scare / put off people who have genuine health issues & need to see a GP, but, for whatever reason, couldn't afford a fee, or may delay booking an appointment, by which time their condition could get worse). I do, however, think that people who book and then miss appointments for no real reason should be charged - it happens so often - so many wasted appointments / time / and yes costs money, and delays genuine patients from seeing GPs (and yes, I do have first hand knowledge of this). But to charge for an appointment - no - who the heck wants to be questioned by a GP about their health issues just because they may be 'lonely' / isn't that in itself a possible MH issue??

I managed to get a telephone appointment for my son yesterday. Dr agreed with me he needs a higher dose and the over the counter one I was buying wasn't enough. She said she will now perscibe him some and put it in the repeat prescription for him, for one year.

They will review him then. She said there is nothing to investigate as they found a problem and they going to fix it with these tablets.

They found the problem but they haven't found the cause of the problem. That is worrying that they still won't investigate. Hopefully the tablets do bring his levels up and keep them up.
