Child Modelling - Experiences?

A few months ago I was approached while with my 2 year old by a modelling agency.

I just wanted to know people’s experiences of their children modelling. The process, fees, experiences, potential earnings; any experiences really. Any dos and donts, things to think about/watch out for?

I would just say that in the world of AI we now live in, paedophiles are using regular advertised images of children to copy and paste their faces and generate 'fake' indecent images of children which are then circulated online.

If you do this, your child will be at risk of this happening to their image and there will be nothing you can do to undo that/ remove it from the Internet.

I don't think there's any way to move forwards with the Internet the way it is without accepting that there's a pretty significant risk for any children on public platforms now. So I personally wouldn't ever consider this. Especially since your child is too young to consent to being used in this way by you to generate income even if that income is held in trust for them later.

I think the impact of children's digital footprints is really worrying right now and it's something I would really look into if you're remotely considering this. AI and technology in general is developing much faster than any safeguards needed to manage it.

A lot of “child modelling” involves them doing a photo shoot of your child then selling you the photos. You then never hear from them again.

Have you read up about child modelling scams?
Because I would be very wary about being approached in this manner.

And even if it s genuine @Lavender14 makes some very valid points.

DS was scouted by a newly self employed agent when we were out shopping one day. All seemed nice and professional, and she seemed to have some big names on board, but it was an awful lot of work. The agent wanted a portfolio of photos, dressed in unbranded plain clothes, lots of guidance about lighting, poses etc. She offered a photo shoot to get a portfolio going in a random place across London (we live a few hours away by train) which would have meant a long day travelling to it and paying for it. All together it would have cost me nearly £500 so I said no. It seemed like this would be quite common for the shoots - a days travel mostly to London or a location, travel would be paid for, but often in term time. The agent said she was normally able to clear the time off with schools no problem due to it being paid work.

DS was keen on the idea of being a model but got very bored with me trying to get good home shots. Then there was more guidance sent round about new autumn seasonal shooting ideas, taking videos to add to the portfolio showing the kids hands and doing a favourite sport. I realised this was going to be a lot of ongoing work. Plus DS lost the will, so we backed out before any jobs came along.
