Where to start with pictures for bedroom

We are doing our bedroom and I want some wall art/prints etc as we are painting the room a very neutral light colour and I want to add a bit of interest.

Anyone stylish or good with interiors know where to start? I’ve googled it and lots of prints online (an overwhelming amount!) but l don’t know what to go for, do I get matching? Different things? Are gallery walls passé? I don’t want it to all look contrived. Any advice gratefully received!

My mother was an artist and she collected art and I have quite a few friends who are artists so have a lot of painting drawing etc in my house. My advise choose what you like don’t listen to what other people like and or is on trend etc. then you’ll enjoy it, put it where ever you want and move it around regularly you’ll feel like you redecorated the room.
When choosing a painting just sit and look at it for as long as you can, do you see more things the longer you look at it? Does it strike a chord deep down? I recently bought a painting I was choosing from 3 a friend said she liked paining A and it was very nice but my eye kept being drawn back to painting B and visitor to the gallery was saying she loved paining C which was also very nice but the more I sat and looked at paining B the more I saw the more it resonated with me, then the artist whos a good friend of mine said, “knowing you and what you like I think you should choose paining B” and she was right. A and C were amazing but B speaks to me. Does it mean something to you, for example I have a painting of a house in a town I used to live and the house used to be pub and I have many happy memories or sitting outside with friends having a drink on a summer evening, so looking at the picture brings back happy memories, I have many paintings by my mother for me she lives on through those paintings, I have a painting from my grandparents house when I look at it I think fondly of them. I have a great friend who’s a well regarded international artist not only do I love her paintings but they have added meaning because she painted them.
I once read or heard somewhere that the Duchess of Devonshires favourite painting was a reproduction surrounded by priceless originals for some reason she just loved this particular painting. I have a reproduction on my wall that I bought after attending an exhibition of a famous painters work I loved the real thing hence buying the reproduction but I also went with a good friend and looking at it reminds of the day out I had with her.
You can have eclectic taste put the ultra modern with the classical it’s really is fine to do that. Step outside of your comfort zone look at inns you wouldn’t normally consider.
What sort or art do you like? Do you visit exhibitions/museums? I regularly go to exhibitions often of painters I’m not always drawn too but always try and go with an open mind and am often surprised at how much I like them. To quote the famous art historian Kenneth Clark “look look look and look again”
Have fun.

Paintings not inns!

What great advice from @beardediris. You can get very affordable prints and posters on Etsy and places like posterlounge, desenio, junique if your budget is on the lower side. Look for stuff you like rather than aiming to look ‘styled’ or matchy I’d say. It can be nice to mix up the textures as well a bit - I’ve got a group of canvases of different sizes I covered with a fabric I like, along with framed prints in my bedroom and it works well.

Agree with @beardediris.Choose what you like. In Kent there is an “open studios” every summer where artists open their studios up for visitors - It’s great fun visiting and in the past few years I’ve bought a few pictures/ceramics that I love by various artists during the event. Perhaps your area holds a similar event that might give you inspiration? Or there are regular large exhibitions that bring together lots of artists, such as Potfest (ceramics) which, again, are worth a visit to see what you like.
