What was the best day of your life?

I feel like a lot of people say it was their wedding day, or the day their kids were born.

My wedding day was amazing, but all it really was was a bit of a party to formalise our relationship.

The day my eldest child was born wasn’t a great day, I had a horrible labour, EMCS and have been diagnosed with PTSD. The day my youngest was born was much better, but it just kind of felt like an anticlimax.

I think the best day of my life might have been Saturday just gone. Me, my DH and DC had a morning playing in the garden, then went to the local airport to watch planes taking off. It was exactly how I’d always envisioned family life, and I was so content the whole day.

What was your best day ever?

(NC as this has been quite outing!)

Intrigued.

Jason Derulo was no 1 in the charts with

‘In My Head’

I live the way he starts / finishes his songs with just ‘Derulo’

The days my children were born. Okay the c-sections weren’t fun exactly but they were relatively and objectively good experiences and that feeling of ‘oh my god, it’s you, it’s always been you’ when baby was put on my chest is entirely unrivalled.
Special mention does go to my wedding day as it was truly fantastic, a great day all round.

The day I thwarted my manager's and their manager's attempts to prevent me from moving from their team to another.

It was no secret that the manager's manager hated the manager of the new team, and didn't want to lose any staff to them.

I found a kind of loophole, due to their own inefficiency in setting up the contract for the current role, and pulled the rug from under their feet.

It was quite the victory ✌️

Mine feels a bit corny but my favourite day so far was stepping into disneyland earlier this year.

Two of my dc had years and years of gruelling hosptial trips, admissions and treatment, we had many years of worry and most likely many more to go. My dc top wish was to visit Disney, didn't think we could ever afford it but started saving up money away three years ago.

It was usually warm the afternoon we first stepped into Disney, sun warming our backs, music tinkling and as it was late afternoon the crowds had dispersed and it was just us, my family walking through into disneyland towards the castle, my eldest skipping ahead and my youngest in her chair wearing her favourite princess dress, clapping and squeeling. We went on two rides, then sat in the late afternoon sun with the kids eating their body weight in candy floss, we people watched outside the castle for an hour whilst chatting, talking and just "being". Then I held sticky hands and listened to giggles as we were accompanied by micky mouse himself into the restruant for tea, my kids faces are something I'll never forget. The children fell asleep after tea in the back of the car. We had no seizures that day, no emergency hosptial admission no oxygen required. It honestly was a wonderful day akin to a dream; when my daughter is in hosptial now wired up and the worry sets in I think back to that afternoon it honestly was perfect in every way. I hope when I finally leave this world, it's this memory that I will think of before I part.

I always think the best day of my life was the day I met DH. Even though it took me years to realise it. The actual event was so normal; went out with my friends, got drunk, kissed a random guy and swapped numbers. I never ever thought at the time he would be the person I spent the rest of my life with, but the chances of us even meeting were so slim so in hindsight it was probably the best day of my life because it determined how the rest of my life would unfold!!

My 44th birthday!!
It’s sweet of you to be so happy for me……🤣

RabbitsRock · 24/07/2025 08:50

Great thread OP! I feel incredibly lucky to have had so many experiences to choose from. One of the very best was visiting Kruger National Park whilst on an amazing holiday in South Africa & seeing “ The Big Five” really close up, especially the elephants & a giraffe.

I think you should live as though it’s still to come. ‘May the happiest day of your past be the saddest day of your future ‘.

Picking up our rescue dog. He’s the best decision I’ve ever made. He’s the best boy. Very loving, loyal, chilled and grateful.

I would give ANYTHING to go back to the time when that song came out

TenaciousDeeds · 24/07/2025 09:02

Never ever thought in a million years would I end up being the person who said this, but without doubt my wedding and the birth of my two children.

My DH has turned out to be a rather difficult person, but the wedding was just amazing.

iloveeverykindofcat · 24/07/2025 09:05

I feel like ive had different kinds of best days.

The most fun day with my oldest friend, on a girls' trip for example.

Best day of my career: a day spent in really meaningful work with inspirational people, in Cape Town, the most beautiful city place I've seen. The first time I saw a class of my students graduate was pretty good too.

Best thing I've done that I thought I couldn't do: when I rescued a stray cat that was dying of panleucopenia, nursed her, cleaned up the awful mess, sterilised frantically, gave her liquid nutrition - the day the vet said that she was officially clear of the virus.

I don't have children so can't compare it to that but they were all best in different ways. I've had different kinds of worst days too.

Myblueclematis · 24/07/2025 09:05

The day I moved house and bought the one I'm in now outright. July 15, 2015. The financial freedom from paying a mortgage has been absolutely priceless. 😁

Lady Ga Ga was my dad’s favourite singer, he was fascinated by her. The poker face is in relation to me hiding my anger with my brother.

The day I went to the Eras Tour last August. Beautiful weather, amazing day with my sister. I replay the gig constantly through videos and memories lol. I love live music and it really really was unreal

Ah interesting !! Although I’m an only child I DEFINITELY know what you mean about anger in relation to family members .

the early 2010s was the best time of my life so as you can imagine - every other song on my main playlist is .. Lady Gaga!

seriously though - if you listen to all her top 40 singles from 2009 - 2012 EVERY single one’s an absolute banger !!

SewingBees · 24/07/2025 09:21

I have 3.

Scuba diving with a whale shark in Thailand.

The day after my daughter was born I was transferred to the local maternity unit. It was so quiet compared to the crazy hospital I'd given birth in. I finally had quiet alone time with my daughter and it was very precious. Then my sister and dad arrived and I loved introducing them to my daughter and seeing the absolute joy on their faces. The photos I have of them holding her are my favourites, and poignant now my dad is dead.

The third one is from last year, I took my daughter to Australia and on the first day in Sydney the sun shone (middle of winter there so not guaranteed) and I was able to show her the city I love looking it's best, with my best friend who I see very rarely.

What was the best day of your life?
SweetFancyMoses · 24/07/2025 09:25

One of my best days was definitely the day my youngest was born. When I popped him out with no effort whatsoever, I had the most overwhelming feeling of falling madly in love with him the second I saw him. I had NOT felt like this when the first one was born.

I then had an entire year of some sort of post natal euphoria. I was completely ecstatic and delirious with happiness to the point I thought I might have something wrong with me.

Rabbitrabbitrun · 24/07/2025 09:30

There are a couple, one when I got my A level results and secondly when I was accepted to do a degree.

I was raised in a family where women didn’t work and my father didn’t believe women needed much of an education.

I didn’t do well at school, no surprise there. As an adult I was lucky enough to go back into education and I discovered a real love for learning.

MsTamborineMan · 24/07/2025 10:17

My wedding day and subsequent honeymoon were probably the best days

Also the day I found out I passed my uni degree. Living with my best friends, sat on the stairs in our PJs finding out one by one everyone had passed. We spent the whole day celebrating basically on Cloud 9. Shouting down the phones to each others parents, hearing their happiness too

Dontcallmescarface · 24/07/2025 10:47

The day my dad's mother died. She was a vile piece of shit...I actually cried with happiness that day....well you did ask OP.
