I am freaking out !! I suffer with health anxiety so as you can imagine I am panicking…so…
iv been to the doctors today but he’s not really put my mind at ease he just said he doesn’t think it’s anything to worry about HOWEVER… keep an eye on it and come back in 5 weeks if it changes size, shape etc. Asked if I have skin cancer in my family I said no and that was it. So as you can imagine this didn’t really reassured me that it’s nothing as he told me to come back …

I have spotted this 5 weeks ago while I was on holiday as I don’t usually have my thighs out it was definitely smaller back then but only by little bit so when I first spotted it it was a size of a poppy seed and now it seems to be size of sesame seed so it hasn’t grown massively but still growth is growth, it feels firm but squishy if I squeeze it a little bit , I do have few cherry angiomas ( I’m 31y) and got one that looks like this but it’s light red not black like this one !!!

im so scared that this could me the big C … has anyone every had something like this ?

He told you to come back in 5 weeks IF it changes or grows. Of course he's going to say that. That doesn't mean he's particularly concerned about it.

If you have health anxiety nothing any of us, or the medics say will convince you that everything's ok.

All you can do is keep an eye on it, and go back in five weeks if it gets bigger. I suspect you'll go back whether or not it gets bigger.

I know I am coming across as very matter of fact but I have a family member with health anxiety and nothing satisfies them. Are you the same or will you be OK waiting a few weeks?

For £35. You can get a mole scaned checked at boots results in a week.

There you go OP. Get down to Boots and pay your 35 quid. Although they will probably also say to you that you should come back or go to the GP if it grows or changes shape. That's what responsible HCPs do. The can tell you what something isn't today but they cannot and should not guarantee what it won't be in a year's time, because they don't have a crystal ball.

I recently had similar. It was from friction. I booked a doctor’s appointment but while I was waiting for it, it turned black, split in half, and half fell off. The other half soon followed. Hopefully it’s the same for you.

Right, put a ruler right next to it. Take a photo now then redo in 4 weeks (something sinister will have changed in that time) and go straight back with both photos if yes. A very eminent skin cancer person told me this and said that scary looking things that don't change can be nothing but less sinister looking things that are changing quickly are more likely to be sinister. Try not to worry

OP, you’ve already said that it’s grown from poppy seed size to sesame seed size over the course of 5 weeks. He’s asked you to come back if it changes, but it already has changed since you first noticed it.

Its hard to tell if its even a mole from your pics but if so, does it fulfil any of these criteria:

Asymmetry: One half of the mole or lesion does not mirror the other half.
Border: The edges of the mole are irregular, notched, blurred, or indistinct.
Colour: The mole has uneven colour, with shades of tan, brown, black, red, white, or blue.
Diameter: The mole is larger than 6 millimeters (about the size of a pencil eraser), although melanomas can be smaller when diagnosed.
Evolution: The mole is changing in size, shape, or color, or is itching, bleeding, or becoming raised.

Given the growth, and the fact that you’re worried, and especially if it meets any of the ABCDE criteria - go back to the gp and ask for a 2 week wait referral to dermatology.

Better safe than sorry and it’ll be such a weight off
your mind once properly sorted xx
